BSOD during Non-Destructive Reinstall

I was having random reboots on my Win7 SP1 system (ASUS Sabertooth 990FX, AMD Phenom II X6 1100T, 8GB RAM, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 560 1GB and Crucial M4 256GB SSD); I would leave the system for 20 minutes or so and come back to find it had recovered from some sort of issue and rebooted. The system also seemed to be running a a bit slower, and it's been a few years since I installed, so I decided to do a nondestructive reinstall using the latest Win 7 installer with SP1 from digital river (and following the instructions here in another tutorial thread).

The install was going fine and was in the final stage when the BSOD happened and a memory dump occurred. The new install stopped and reverted the system back to the previous Win 7 version. I ran the SF diagnostic tool and here I am for some help trying to figure out if I may have a hardware issue. TIA.

It is caused by Symantec Real Time Storage Protection.

It is protecting your storage discs in such a strong way that they are failing to perform perfectly.

I would suggest you to uninstall Norton and all Symentec products using Norton Removal tool. Use Microsoft Security Essentials as your antivirus with windows inbuilt firewall, and free MBAM as the on demand scanner.
Download and install those, and then run full system scans with both of them, one by one.

Problem solved!

I was running Win7 SP1 so I skipped that suggestion and used the Norton Removal Tool to remove the Norton Suite. I then did a non destructive reinstall using a USB based Win 7 SP1 installer. The re-install executed with no problems and the system is up and running with no apparent issues.

From my debugging experience I can only say that no other AV program will make you happy in the long run, even not free avast, which is almost as good as MSE.

Nice to know that your issue is solved. I will have another look at this thread when i will be in home.

So as on 3rd December, when the system crashed for the last time as per the zip supplied, it was not service pack 1 installed.
