So I get TDR and BSOD whenever I play a graphically intensive game. Doesn't have to be much, though. I tried to play Mafia 2 and I got TDR. The same with Dishonored, CS:GO, and a whole mess of other games.
I've already set the PhysX to my graphics card rather than auto, so if you were going to say that, don't.
Note: My GTX 660 is by OC'd by Gigabyte, thought I'd point that out.
Erm, this doesn't make sense. You have a Geforce card, so why do I see ATI drivers also loaded? You may wanna do some cleanup of your drivers to ensure you don't have any conflicts. A good way to see loaded drivers is using Autoruns. Don't use it to remove drivers, but to check a list of those intended to load at Windows startup. Also good is to check Programs & Features on control panel and uninstall unnecessary items.
Otherwise, I don't have good data on this. One of the 3 crashdumps present did report that the TDR timeout was caused by insufficient resources to complete a DirectX API call, but I can't ascertain how this happened from just a minidump. Try running Driver Verifier and provide us new crashdumps.
EDIT: I just noticed the ATI crash was from back in Oct, with two other crashdumps from Nov and December. Have you changed your video card recently? I assume you were also getting timeouts from the previous card?
Yeah I had a Radeon Sapphire 6970. The previous card did a similar thing, however, that completely crashed my computer. Well not so much crashed but it completely shut off all connections, as if I'd disconnected all cables and USB's from my computer except for the power cable, since my computer was still "on". My PC would make a loud noise which I had assumed was from the fan. The GTX recovers, rather than crash. But yeah, I'll try the autorun thing.
So autorun says I have a bunch of different AMD drivers which might be true, since I have other hardware that's AMD, however, I found 1 driver in particular that points to my other driver which is called; "amdkmdag". Also, it has come to my attention that recently the audio on my computer has been messing up, ever since I tried the driver verifier, not sure if that's the programs fault or mine but the sound stutters and it it's a tad bit annoying.
I used driversweeper to delete all AMD driver and the problem persists. Someone have an idea on what to do? It's starting to become a real pain.
I need some answers! Would someone reply with an idea? Here is the problem;
-My computer has TDR (timeout detection and recovery). Which means my monitor goes black for a few moments and the sound gets stuck in a loop. As in when this happens if I'm listening to someone talk he will say "and so iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit has come..." then everything goes back to normal, but this happens several times, after which my computer restarts on it's own.
-My sound it strange. Not only when I get the TDR, it sounds like there is a little bit of static and sometimes it slows down, along with video.
-This problem does not only apply to games any more. It happens at random.
Here is another SF diagnostic thing. Please someone help out if you have any knowledge of this problem whatsoever.
So you have had experiences with two video cards? From what you've described your systems, especially with the previous card, it's evident the mobo is responsible. That or your PSU just is not sufficient enough, or there's a short circuit - either from a lack of or non-securely-fastened back connector panel, or from motherboard standoffs not being properly installed.
Alright thanks I'll have a look at that. :) If anyone thinks it could be a software issue and a fix, please tell me because I don't have the money to be buying a new motherboard :P
