I started getting a BSOD almost every night after installing a new video card. It's an AMD APU that I was running with on-board graphics, and I just put in a GeForce 8800GT. I can't figure out what driver is causing it, as far as I know I'm running the latest and most appropriate driver for the card. Attaching the minidump files.
The mini-dump exhibits 'ntsokrnl.exe' error that may indicate software issues. As per my experience, a fresh 'Windows reinstall' has been most useful. However, you may also try the following steps:
1. Reinstall 'Video Card' drivers
Click 'Start' and type 'devmgmt.msc' (without quotations) in 'Search programs & files' > Tap 'Enter' > Expand 'Display Adapters > Right click & uninstall 'GeForce 8800GT' (Confirm software install if prompted) > Follow through with the uninstall and restart the system > Click Drivers | GeForce to run 'Auto-detect GPU Utility' > Download and install the suggested driver > Restart system and check results
3. If you still experience issues, try 'Factory Reset' (If a healthy recovery image is available)
If a healthy 'Recovery Image' is available (on the hard drive or on an external media), you may restore the system back to known-good settings. This step may not always work; you may give it a shot before doing a 'fresh Windows Reinstall'.
Note: 'Factory Image Restore/Operating System Reinstall' will lead to data-loss; please backup the data on an external media before attempting the restore options.
