Windows 7: BSOD or Failed "Wake ups" from Sleep/Hibernate/Restart

BSOD or Failed "Wake ups" from Sleep/Hibernate/Restart

Sometimes this laptop refuses to come out of Sleep or Hibernate (blinking cursor) and will force a Startup Repair.

Occasionally BSOD's will occur but the previous issue mentioned is more prevalent.

Has been happening over the span of the last two months.

Appreciate any help, thanks in advance.

Where did you get this copy of windows and how did you activate it?

It's an Acer laptop I got about a year and a half ago. Windows 7 came with it.

To be honest, I don't remember how (if?) I activated it. I assume I typed in a product key, if it wasn't already 'activated'.
