Computer displays error message. After that it wont come on

My friend has a computer thats displaying an error message when he presses the power button to turn on his laptop. He has had it sense 2009 and it has worked perfectly fine up till today. After pressing the power button he immediately sees the screen shown in the link below. After he saw that screen he turned his computer off and attempted to turn it back on, the screen did not come on but all the lights displayed on the machine came on as normal and the fan was fully functioning. I dont know the specs of his laptop but he has an dell inspiron 1525. I have included a link that shows the specs for this pc model as well as an image taken of the error message. Thanks for your help

Heres a link to the error message

    try this on it.
Sounds like his memory is bad/dead
    RAM - Test with Memtest86+

Let that run for a couple of passes, if it's really so bad it can't boot you should see errors by then.

    Hi bigboi972,

It appears to be a memory or a motherboard related issue; 'Inspiron 1525' has 2 memory slots. If 2 RAMs are installed in this unit, you may try the functionality of each card by one by one, on both the slots. This will help you to isolate the root cause if this issue. You may want to refer to the laptop's 'service manual' also:
    Documentation

Note: Please ensure that you follow the 'safety instructions' mentioned in the manual.

As your friend experienced 'no video' on the laptop, I recommend you to capture the sequence of 'keyboard status lights' also:

Hope this helps. Do reply if you have any further questions. I would be glad to assist.

his lights are as follows the far right light is on and the middle and far left lights are off. This light sequence is not indicated on the chart. What could be the issue.

    Hi bigboi972,

    Thank you for the reply.

The 'LED sequence' in your laptop does not match any of the given 'diagnostic light sequence'; therefore no decisive results.

You may try to tap the 'Caps & Num lock keys' when you power on the laptop. Notice the change in 'light sequence' if any. You may also try to connect an 'external monitor' with the laptop; and tap <Windows key><P> to see if you see anything on the 'external display'.

Would also like to know if you tried using the laptop with only 1 RAM card at a time (in both slots one by one). The issue appears to be related to the 'system memory' and this troubleshooting step should help us isolate that possibility. Also observe the change in 'light sequence' when using only with 1 RAM card. Memory in 'Inspiron 1525' is a 'customer replaceable unit'; removing and installing 'RAM cards' should be easy. You may refer to the 'Service Manual' of this unit for 'step-by-step' instructions: http://dell.to/xDne8o
(Please follow all safety precautions mentioned in the document)

Do reply with the findings. Good Luck.
