Windows 7 BSOD on shutdown caused by Samsung DVD SH-222BB

Posted on here in case it helps someone else:

I was getting BSOD and hangs on shutdown on Windows 7 64 Ultimate.

Extract of BSOD as below:

DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE 0x0000009f 00000000`00000003 fffffa80`09af6400 fffff800`00b9c3d8 fffffa80`0b703010

With some investigation I discovered my Samsung DVD SH-222BB was not powering down on shutdown and therefore causing the hangs and BSOD.

I updated the drive to the latest firmware here: SAMSUNG ODD SERVICE and it solved the hanging.

Posted this in case it helps someone with the same issue
