    Frequent varying BSOD Issues

Hi, I'm new here and have a seemingly chronic issue with the stability of my laptop.

    Specs

Model: Dell Studio 1555 (Manufactured Date: 12/22/2009)
OS: Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit English
    CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo T6600 (2.2GHz/800MHz FSB/2MB Cache)
    Mem: 4GB DDR2 at 800MHz
    Drive: 500 GB @ 5400RPM Replaced Hard Drive (WD5000BEVT)
GC: 512MB ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4570
    CD: Dual Layer DVD+/-R Drive
WiFi: Intel WiFi Link 5100 802.11agn Half Mini-Card

    Background Info

I had been getting random BSODs before (roughly once a month), but the frequency picked up greatly last year. Towards the end of this past month, I was receiving 1-3 BSODs a day! Finally I ran a Dell Diagnostic test (in the BIOS) and the DST Short Test failed. So as was the recommendation on the Internet, I replaced my corrupt hard drive for a new one with the same specs (earlier this week). I installed Win 7 HP 64-bit with the manufacturer provided reinstallation DVD.
It seemed to work for a few days, but now I'm running into daily BSODs again. The new Hard drive apparently has a bad block on it (Event Viewer), but I can't determine if that or Google Chrome is causing my laptop to crash. Also, when the computer installs automatic updates, upon restart the BIOS won't find the OS which is really annoying.

Before I replaced the Hard Drive, the usual Stop Code culprit was 1e but now it appears to be f4 or f7.

At this point, the instability could be a variety of things.
-Norton Anti-virus software (on Old Drive)
    -Google Chrome
    -Drivers for USB TV Card
    -Drivers for Sound Card
-Bad Block in New Hard drive

I've included the ZIP file from SF_Diagnostic Tool of the new Hard Drive.
Thanks for looking into this! – Diving Loon

    Hey Diving Loom,

    Please try the following:

    Please run Chkdsk:

Goto Start> type in cmd> rightclick and run as Admin

Type: Please run Chkdsk /f/r: (note there is a space between Chkdsk and /f/f :)

    Disk Check

    once completed reboot.

    Then run:

Start> type in cmd> rightclick and run as Admin

    Type: sfc /scannow

SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker

and let that run and then reboot.

Post back after this and let me know any outcome

Also please update to Windows 7 service pack one through windows update.
    cheers

    Dave

Run chkdsk as recommended before and also run SeaGate Seatools

I also noticed you are missing your RICOH drivers and it is showing up in the Problem Devices

    Code:

It seems to be hard-drive error, from the information gathered so far, please follow the above steps provided by the others.

    Install Service Pack 1:

    Code:
    Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium 6.1.7600 N/A Build 7600

Service Pack 1 has provided many security and stability updates for Windows 7, which would be highly beneficial for your system.

Install and perform full scans with:

Remember to install the free version of Malwarebytes not the free trail; untick the free trial box during installation. MSE is the most lightweight and compatible with the Windows 7 operating system.

You can also view this thread for a complete free and lightweight security protection combination:

If any errors are found during the hard-drive tests, then create a system image, after installing Service Pack 1 and installing the security programs provided.

OK, so to bring everyone up to speed...

Northernsoul55: Both the chkdsk and the sfc /scannow command passed with no problems (check Attachments) plus I successfully upgraded to Service Pack 1.

mgorman87: Both the Generic Short & Long tests passed in SeaTools with no problems. Any idea which Ricoh driver(s) I need? I personally don't own any Ricoh devices.

x BlueRobot: Thanks for the Anti-virus software suggestions!

For my part, I did take numerous precautions while installing the drive (dust-free environment + gloves). I/O error status may have been the problem with the previous drive. I have attached another .zip file with the last 9 BSOD reports from the old drive.

The good news is that I've already backed-up my files on two USB sticks and an 80GB iPod.

    Hi Loom,

We will need a new BSOD report upon the next crash, as you have changed your drive. :)

    Cheers

Well, it hasn't crashed in the past 30 hours, that's a good sign. I think the SP1 really helped. If it doesn't crash by tomorrow evening, I will consider this problem fixed. And just to affirm, the first post had the current drive log. My previous post had the previous drive's issues.

I'm installing the Ricoh Drivers I found under the recommended updates in Windows Update. Thanks for pointing it out!
