App crash c0000005 in some things but not others

So i recently built my own computer, i then installed windows and everything was jolly (it seemed) then after updating windows i would get the c0000005 all the time, i had imaged my OS install to just after installing all my chipset drivers using acronis true image and after running 2 12 hour memtest on my memory sticks i thought ill just revert to the image, i have a feeling it didn't work right, as i still get the errors, but not its just random, some games / apps can run for eternity, some crash instantly (mostly older games, a old pre dx9 game c0000005 crashes, mechcommander gets failed to create primary display surface), it also removed all my updates and i don't really want to use windows update, so ive loaded up a copy of windows 7 with all of the windows updates for windows 7 (including sp1) and was wondering if i this just sounds like some kind of installation degradation and if i should just format?

PS All of these games that now get this error i was able to play a week ago

    Hi,

    Try this please:

    1. Click Start
    2. In the search box, type cmd
    3. In the list that appears, right-click on cmd.exe and choose Run as administrator
    4. In the command window that opens, type sfc /scannow and hit enter.

Report the output once it finishes.

    Regards,
    Golden

If it was me, I would perform a fresh installation. Follow these steps to get the best error free installation:

Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7

Alright well i was just wondering if it might of been a memory error but i ran memtest for 24+ hours, and did a 12 hours long blend test with prime95 and some games just never crash, but im not expert so.

MemTest86+ and Prime95 test hardware - in your case it sounds more like a corrupted install (software).
