BSOD - Driver Power State Failure

Hello- First-timer! Sorry, I hope this isn't a redundant post. I'm not too savy and don't understand all the lingo so go easy on me.

Backstory: This is my first post and I'm very new to the computer world (beyond the basics). I decided to try and take on my first build (everything new except PSU and case). Everything seemed fine until recently.

Problem: I keep getting the BSOD shortly after coming out of sleep mode. It mentions "Driver Power State Failure". I have read several posts claiming similar happenings but all of the replies seem very specific to people's hardware and associated drivers so I wasn't sure how to apply it to my situation. Any help is greatly appreciated.

I have attached my dump files.

    Thanks!

Update it from M-AUDIO - Drivers and Software Search.

I also have noticed a lot of Ntfs and storport errors there. It is either an ambitious antivirus or a nasty virus.

Uninstall AVG using AVG Remover. Use Microsoft Security Essentials as your antivirus with windows inbuilt firewall, and free MBAM as the on demand scanner.

Download, install and update those, and then run full system scans with both of them, one by one. Scan the system for possible virus infection, too.

    Uninstall the following bloatware.

    • Start Menu\Programs\MSI
    • Start Menu\Programs\MSI\Live Update 5
    • Start Menu\Programs\MSI\MSI SUITE
    • Start Menu\Programs\MSI\Super-Charger
    • Start Menu\Programs\Catalyst Control Center

    Free up the startup.

    1. Click on the Start button
    2. Type “msconfig (without quotes), click the resulting link. It will open the System Configuration window.
    3. Select the “Startup” tab.
    4. Deselect all items other than the antivirus.
    5. Apply > OK
    6. Accept the restart.

As it shows USBHUB too as a failing area, do some general USB troubleshooting. For the port, first, uninstall and reinstall the USB ports drivers.

    1. Right click on Computer icon > manage. It will open the computer management window.
    2. Click on "Device Manager" in the left pane, it will list all installed devices up.
    3. Expand "USB Serial Bus Controllers" by clicking on the triangle in front of it.
    4. Click on one item to select, then right click and uninstall.
    5. Do the same for all.
    6. Restart the computer.
    7. At restart, windows will auto configure the appropriate drivers.

And, Disable USB Selective Suspense too.
USB Selective Suspend - Turn On or Off

For the devices, first, detach all the USB devices other than the keyboard and mouse.
Then, Update the drivers for them all, including the keyboard and mouse, if any third party drivers are installed for them.

    Let us know the results.

    Thank you Arc! Much appreciated.

I have followed your instructions. A couple of notes:

Uninstall Catalyst Control Center- when I went to do this I got a warning that "this will remove all AMD driver and application components"...and I hesitated. Should I indeed uninstall?

While uninstalling USB drivers, they were automatically reinstalling themselves and then I lost track of which ones I had/hadn't uninstalled. Then the computer froze and I restarted. Upon trying again, the computer froze a second time.

I ran the 2 system scans and removed a few problems- "Exploit:Java/CVE-2011-3544" (a few of these w/ slightly different names) & "TrojanSpy:Win32/Lurk.C"

I'm still getting the BSOD. It's always about 15 minutes after coming out of sleep mode. I have attached my list dump files. Thanks again for helping me out!

The driver update failed to add some push there, apparently.

If the device is not connected, what is the result there?

Also, the version of display driver installed there is sometimes problematic.
    Code:
    fffff880`04a45000 fffff880`054e3000 nvlddmkm T (no symbols)

And it is contributing to the crashes, too.
    Code:
    fffff800`00b9c528 fffff880`04bd880cUnable to load image nvlddmkm.sys, Win32 error 0n2

In this situation, it is better to roll it back to a known stable one.

Let us know the results of these two, and will proceed with the jobs those you failed to perform, depending on the results.

Sorry for the delayed response. My system will no longer boot and I've been trouble shooting for the past week.

I rolled back the nVidia driver. Still getting BSOD after coming out of sleep mode. However, everything seems stable if my M Audio device is not connected.

I'll be getting back to this as soon as my system is back up and running. I've given up and will be taking it to the pros.

    Thanks!
