| Windows 7: Acer laptop freezes after hibernation |

Acer laptop freezes after hibernation I recently installed Windows 7 Home Premium x86 on a friend's laptop, and she gave it back to me because it has been freezing on her. I did some investigation, and I believe that it is linked with hibernation; after I resume from hibernation, within a few minutes, no matter what the activity, the computer will completely freeze. Even the caps-lock key will not work. Does anyone know why this happens, and what I can do to fix it?
Edit: After posting, I realized I should probably post some specs.

are you using auto hide taskbar? No, I am not. great there is a knbown prb between autohide and hibernation. could you go into event viewer by typing that in the search bar and go to the wondows log, application tab. Look for errors (red "X" in left column) and tell us the event id and source code of the most frequent
thanks

You know what, I returned the computer a little while ago, so I cannot access anything on it. Thanks for the help anyway. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Custom OS Windows 7 Professional x64 CPU Intel i7 2600K OC'd @ 4620 MHz Motherboard Asus P8Z68-V Pro Memory 16GB GSkill Sniper 2133 Mhz (4x4GB) Graphics Card EVGA GeForce GTX 480 SuperClocked+ Sound Card Realtek High Definition Audio Monitor(s) Displays 2x Acer S273HLbmii 27" Screen Resolution 2 x 1920x1080 Keyboard Logitech MK320 (wireless) Mouse Logitech MK320 (wireless) PSU Corsair HW Series 750w (modular) Case Cooler Master HAF 932 Advanced Blue Edition Cooling CM Hyper 212+ CPU cooler, 3x 230mm + 1x 140mm case fans Hard Drives 64GB Crucial M4 SSD

I realize this thread is a few weeks old, but I've got an Acer 5515 and am having the exact same problem. I've looked in the event log (Application) and there aren't any error entries from the most recent occurrence.
I do not use Auto Hide Taskbar.
Any new information on this problem or anything else I might try? | My System Specs | | OS Windows 7, Windows XP, Ubuntu 9.10 |

Best things to do are to update bios to latest and then install latest chipset drivers.
Any other driver not compliant with sleeping and/or hibernation will throw the system out of whack with this. For that reason, update every driver on the system to latest possible. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number self built OS 7600.20510 x86 CPU P4 550 3.4 GHz HT running at 3.5 GHz Motherboard MSI PM8M3-V (MS-7211 v1.x) Micro-ATX mainboard Memory OCZ 2 GB(2x1GB) DDR400mHz running @ 414 mHz Graphics Card HIS Radeon HD 3850 IceQ 3 Turbo HDMI Dual DL-DVI AGP Sound Card MOTU Traveler firewire studio interface 192 kHz 24 bit Monitor(s) Displays 22" widescreen Acer X223W LCD, 17" Compaq P75 CRT Screen Resolution 1680x1050 and 1280x1024 Keyboard Logitch Classical Keyboard 200 Mouse Logitech Mediaplay cordless PSU 350W generic Case Cybertronpc, it glows blue Cooling stock cpu fan, Ice-Q 3 gpu and system, many case fans Hard Drives SATA I x2 WD, 400 GB and 120 GB, SATA 2 WD Caviar Black 1 TB Internet Speed 1792/448 kbits/sec Other Info SATA II PCI fake RAID adapter, 1 GB Readyboost, original ATI Remote Wonder (even works with WMC perfectly), Logitech Rumblepad 2 game controller x2 |

Right click it. Update driver software. Browse. Let me pick. Have disk. Browse. Navigate to and double click on the .inf in C:\ATI
Hit ok. Hit next and let it install. Reboot and then choose an Aero theme. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number self built OS 7600.20510 x86 CPU P4 550 3.4 GHz HT running at 3.5 GHz Motherboard MSI PM8M3-V (MS-7211 v1.x) Micro-ATX mainboard Memory OCZ 2 GB(2x1GB) DDR400mHz running @ 414 mHz Graphics Card HIS Radeon HD 3850 IceQ 3 Turbo HDMI Dual DL-DVI AGP Sound Card MOTU Traveler firewire studio interface 192 kHz 24 bit Monitor(s) Displays 22" widescreen Acer X223W LCD, 17" Compaq P75 CRT Screen Resolution 1680x1050 and 1280x1024 Keyboard Logitch Classical Keyboard 200 Mouse Logitech Mediaplay cordless PSU 350W generic Case Cybertronpc, it glows blue Cooling stock cpu fan, Ice-Q 3 gpu and system, many case fans Hard Drives SATA I x2 WD, 400 GB and 120 GB, SATA 2 WD Caviar Black 1 TB Internet Speed 1792/448 kbits/sec Other Info SATA II PCI fake RAID adapter, 1 GB Readyboost, original ATI Remote Wonder (even works with WMC perfectly), Logitech Rumblepad 2 game controller x2 Acer laptop freezes after hibernation problems?
