CPU spikes

The BSOD went away but now I'm getting these random CPU spikes. (generally in the range of 50-100%, RAM at about 30%) I just played a graphically intensive game for about an hour and no stutter at all. But when I'm doing school work (I usually have multiple tabs open, PDF X-change viewer, Pandora radio streaming, and some folders open), firefox doesn't respond for a few seconds, and the music that I listen to gets choppy. and the computer becomes unresponsive for a short amount of time. Any thoughts?

Have you been to the samsung site for your laptop and updated drivers? Check and see if there are udated drivers. If you need it, you can also download your Manual there. The drivers on the driver disk are almost always way out of date.

problem came back last night. I finished up my homework for the night and closed the lid of my laptop. Then today when I opened the lid it told me I suffered an unexpected shutdown. Most likely the blue screen. I'm going to turn verifier back on and see if it can sniff out the problem again and I'll let you know.

Did you update your drivers from the Samsung website?

Ya I updated the drivers. I was wondering if there is a program that automatically updates drivers? or if thats something that just needs to be regularly checked up on. Also, I just turned on verifier. So i'll report back my findings within 24 hours

I have a Samsung laptop too. It has a program that is supposed to do that, but I haven't found it very useful. Don't trust software to check for drivers. It's something you need to do yourself every once in a while. In my personal opinion, I always use what is on the samsung site. Laptops seem to be quite propietary. They will a lot of times tweak the drivers for that particular laptop. Just my opinion.

Ok, another thing is a lot of the dates on the drivers were updated before I got my laptop. would it already be updated on my laptop or would it still be out of date?

The problem is, you really don't know. You have to research and find out what driver you currently have. The driver numbers are usually sequential. So, the higher number is the most recent. I go by that and the release date. You may find it helpful to get a list of drivers, the driver number and release date and save it on your computer. Then when you update one put the new driver nimber in and release date. It will be a PITA but, once done, will make updating drivers quite simple.

Ok, I'll try that out. Would verifier be able to detect an issue with my driver or would I just have to update them all and hope for the best?
