BSOD -> OS Version: 6.1.7601.2.1.0.256.48 Locale ID: 1033

Hello All,

Apologize in advance for the thread title being vague; was not sure what caused the BSOD.

From what I can recall, I was encoding video using Handbrake and it failed for the first time in my several months of using the program. Thinking it was an anomaly, I ran the encode again and was not sure exactly what I was doing before the BSOD came. It said something about driver level in the blue screen, and it restarted and I got this message when Windows started up again:

Problem signature:

You might want to uninstall and reinstall a new version/driver of the software and see if that helps.
If not, uninstall the program completely and see if that stops the BSOD-s.

What security software do you use?
Quote:
Microsoft Security Essentials.

Recommended from a strict BSOD perspective, compatibility & stability compared to other antiviruses/internet security software. It is free and lightweight:-

warning   Warning
Do not start the free trial of Malware Bytes; remember to deselect that option when prompted.

Run a full scan with both (separately) once downloaded, installed and updated.
Reduce items at start-up. Nothing except anti-virus is required plus improves the time for logging in windows.
Perform a System File Check to check the integrity of all protected Windows 7 :
  1. Click on the start
  2. Type CMD on Search
  3. Left click and Run as Administrator
  4. Type
    Code:
    SFC /scannow

Thanks for the quick response. Just some questions about the Bugcheck Analysis
-> Why does it mention "PROCESS_NAME: HandBrakeCLI.e" if it appears that the AVerMedia Hybrid TV Tuner, AVerMedia TECHNOLOGIES, Inc. caused it.
-> Is it the driver or software for AVerMedia Hybrid TV Tuner that needs to be reinstalled?

As for the security software, I use the following:
Malwarebytes
SUPERAntiSpyware
Avira Antivirus

As for startup programs, here is the list of programs I have selected to run at startup:
Realtek Audio Manager
Intel Common User Interface
PS3 Media Server
AMD Catalyst Control Center and HydraVision Desktop Manager
SUPERAntiSpyware
Avira Antivirus
Canon IJ Network Scan

I will run SFC /scannow once I reinstall the software/driver for the TV Tuner.

As for disk check, I will also run that later, but I initially thought it was a hard disk issue as well so I ran WD Data LifeGuard Diagnostics (Quick Test) and it passed. Not sure if this is a reliable/recommended software to validate hard disk health but it is the only one I used so far.

I just highlighted handbrake cause as you stated in your OP,. the BSOD occurred when you were using that program

Sorry if I am being confusing; just want to clarify what you meant when you said these two things:

Initial Post - Looks like it was caused by your AVerMedia Hybrid TV Tuner, AVerMedia TECHNOLOGIES, Inc.

Newest Post - The BSOD occurred when you were using that program (ie. Handbrake).

I'm assuming its Handbrake at fault since the TV Tuner was not in use (likewise for the software). So should I uninstall/install Handbrake and see if that helps?

Yes you can.

You should still update the Avermedia software cause from the driver date "2009" it looks like its quite old.
