x64 Professional RC - BSOD, now dead!

Hello all. Google hasn't helped so hopefully someone else can!

Have been running 7 for a few days now, and it's not been smooth... For the second time now I have had a BSOD (SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION), which has rebooted the pc. On reboot, the PC loads past the POST screens, but then I'm left with a blank screen with a blinking cursor where the splash screen should be. No keys do anything, except Ctrl-Alt-Del will reboot to same point.

I have tried the repair system using the install CD. The installer is unable to detect any previous installations to work from (so cannot system restore), and the startup repair is unable to do anything. The first time this happened I had to reinstall from scratch. I was very careful this time with what software I installed to try and prevent a reoccurance, and it doesn't seem to be linked to a particular program.

Any help or clues as to what might be going on would be greatly appreciated. (There's no crash data here as I can't get into Windows to get it!)

Disconnect ALL USB devices. Test. Report.

Hi there, cheers for quick reply!

You know your stuff! It's booted up to the login screen fine. I'll plug in USB keyboard and mouse again and login. Lets see if it works fine...

Is there a known issue behind this, I didn't find much on Google despite a while of searching? The devices I had plugged in were a Logitech Keyboard, Microsoft Optical mouse and a Bluetooth dongle which I rarely use. It would be nice to know what's going on in there! Already had BSOD's due to bad wireless drivers, but at least that was easy to fix, this error seems a bit more nasty!

    Cheers,
    Nick

With my own eyes, I saw a catfish walking uphill on a dirt road, about 40 yards from a creek.

What I would like to see here is - connect all USB devices except the dongle. Test. Report.

Does the dongle have a working, Win 7 supported driver installed?
