Uninstall Avast using Avast Uninstall Utility. Use Microsoft Security Essentials as your antivirus with windows inbuilt firewall, and free MBAM as the on demand scanner.

Download, install and update those, and then run full system scans with both of them, one by one.

Also, have a look on the display driver, that is failing, too.

Update your ATI/AMD display driver.
You can get it from the link in our forum, Latest AMD Catalyst Video Driver for Windows 7, or you may go to AMD Graphics Driver and Software and opt for Automatically Detect and Install the appropriate driver for your card.

During installation, you may opt for advanced installation, and install the display driver only, not the Catalyst Control Center.

Thanks so much for the quick response

So I uninstalled Avast, but when I try to download the Microsoft Security Essentials I get an error that tells me the file is corrupt. Any insight on that one?

I also got the error; as I am setting up my system after a clean reinstall ....

Okay so I did all the things you said, but I just got another BSOD and I'm not sure why that happened. I'll upload the files again with this post. Thanks for your work

Edit: Should probably mention that it crashed while I was playing Borderlands 2. If that's of any help.

Double Edit: OH I also forgot, yesterday when I went to update my GPU drivers, it said I had the latest for my system/card/whatever. Which was weird.

Get the WHQL display driver from Latest AMD Catalyst Video Driver for Windows 7.

Stress test the Graphics Card using Furmark.
Video Card - Stress Test with Furmark

Test your RAM modules for possible errors.
How to Test and Diagnose RAM Issues with Memtest86+
Run memtest for at least 8 passes, preferably overnight.

Is the computer hot? Report us the heat of the computer after a couple of hours of your normal usage. Upload a screenshot of the summery tab of Speccy.

How old the GPU is? Inter into the game's settings and change the settings like proirity, textures etc to either medium or low, and see if it changes the situation.

Okay, I'll get back to you when I'm done.

The GPU is only a year or two old, and can always run things on highest settings.
The computer tends to sit close to 60 degrees celsius while I play games, lower while I'm not. Attaching the screenshot...
Doing everything you suggested now.

Just ran the GPU stress test and the temperature leveled out at 75 degrees Celsius, no crashes or anything. Gonna start the memory test, so we'll see how that goes
