Freeze on startup and occational BSOD

    Hi all,

My computer often hangs at startup (like 3/4 times) and sometimes BSOD occurs (rare). After a few reboots I get it started and then _almost_ everything works fine (more about that soon).

I recently installed the full .net framework 4 in order to install windbg. After that, I have been able to start the computer several times without a freeze, so that sort of fixed that . (I haven't booted enough times to say that it did though)

Every medal has its backside and in this case, windows update started to freeze. The update to be installed is... a fix for .net framework 4.

When reviewing the memorydump in windbg it says it's likely a hardware error. If that's the case, I would really like to find out what hardware it is and if it can be disabled in some effective way.

I have replaced the hard drive and memory so I guess those things should be ok.

What cought my eye when running !analyze -v was the rows containing PCIIDEX!AtaPortReadRegisterUlong
    and
    msahci!AhciHwInterrupt+0x3b

That's as far as I can get. All I can say now is "please help".

    Thank you for your attention.

    Hi there,

Please have a look at this thread: Stop 0x124 - what it means and what to try

Run System File Checker to verify/repair the integrity of system files.
Full tutorial here: SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker

    Go to Start>Run
    Type MSCONFIG
Click on Services tab, check Hide All Microsoft Services.
    Then click on Disable All.
Then Apply > OK > Restart the computer.

    See if that helps.
