    Thank you very much Saurabh!!

6 is the port I use and I uninstalled/deleted the USB 3.0 Host Controller as directed and then reboot, then reinstalled it and reboot then plugged my WD Passport into the port 6 (USB 3.0 which was BSOD every time) and now it works perfectly :)

I am in the process of backing everything up onto my WD Passport so if this happens again I can load it from a different USB Port and save us all a big headache! :)

Now to get back to testing the 116 BSOD, which has not happened again since fresh driver installs, so I will wait a few days/week and post back to let you know if it has been fixed.

Thank you again Saurabh, your help is very much appreciate my friend!

    Hi ProdigyGamer,

Glad that the 'Blue screen' is not coming up with the external hard drive plugged in; thank you for confirming. It appears that 'USB 3.0 Host Controller driver' from the manufacturer website works better with your computer. You may use the USB 3.0 port with the external drive without any hesitation. Now that it is properly functional, it is likely to allow you to transfer data at significantly higher speeds without any issues.

Please observe your system for consistency in performance and reply with the findings; glad to assist.

Hmm now my 116 BSOD is back as soon as I log into a game, the sound starts and I start moving I get 116 BSOD.

The game I am testing on is Guild Wars 2 (GW2) since that is the game that started this whole 116 BSOD roller coaster along with Skyrim.

Just to add: My 3 Ambient sensors are all sitting at 31 degrees Celsius, which is normal, I have never opened my case (I think it voids the warranty) and the PC is around 1 year old. I have the latest WHQL Nvidia drivers for GTX 590.

    Hi ProdigyGamer,

The USB 3.0 Host Controller seems to be crashing the system again. Did you re-install 'Malware Bytes' software? If yes, try removing it with its removal utility as before; and share results.

No I have not installed it again yet, iw anted to test the system first before adding anymore programs that have caused a BSOD back on so I can try and eliminate what is causing it.

I have not added anything except the Host Controller Driver and saved a system backup to my WD Passport.

New 116 BSOD while I was uninstalling some sound drivers, uploaded to SkyDrive: 030513-36800-01

I have Soundblaster XFi Titanium card and drivers, also with RealTek Sound Drivers and Nvidia sound drivers from GTX 590.

I have had issues previously with these drivers all being installed, so I wanted to clean them up a bit while my system is fresh and I got a BSOD.

Would these drivers (possibly from Nvidia) be the cause of the 116 BSOD since they are Graphic card related?

    Hi ProdigyGamer,

Please try uninstalling the 'TuneUp Utilities 2013' from the system; perform 'Windows Updates' and recheck results. If you still experience 'Blue Screen error', please capture and load a fresh dump, along with all the other system log reports as mentioned in the tutorial: Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) Posting Instructions

Do reply with the results; will take it forward.

    Thank you Saurabh,

I uninstalled TuneUp Utilities and the BSOD seems to have stopped again. This is strange because I have always had TuneUp Utilities for as long as I have had the PC and previous PCs and never had an issue.

Do you know why it causes BSODs or if I will be able to install it again? (I have actually paid for the product per year).

    I will test it further.

    Hi ProdigyGamer,

It is likely that 'Tune up Utilities' was not effectively dealing with the updated 'USB 3.0' drivers. There are various different opinions around the concept of using 'Cleaning up/optimization' utilities with 'Windows'; would suggest you to use the tuneup utility only if it adds to the system stability. Device Drivers & Windows components update regularly; the tuneup utilities need to update as per the changing needs of the system. This may be a possible reason why it stopped working recently.

I have also observed many senior users have strong faith in the innate ability of 'Windows 7' to optimize and work effectively. You may want to see what works best for you.

However, it is still too soon to say anything. Would request you to use the system for a few days and check if the absence of the tuneup program helps in maintaining stability. Do reply with the results.

Ok I will leave it off and continue testing. Thank you for all your help and time Saurabh, I really appreciate it.
