I have a customer whos laptop has been giving a BSoD since 3-6-13. On 3-8-13 both ad-aware and Spybot Search Destroy were installed run, and found issues that were fixed. Advised customer to install Chrome and since that time, whenever chrome is opened BSoD happens. I need to know what the initial BSoD cause was as well as the most recent. I have included the SF file.
Download and install Intel RST, this version.
The crash dumps are not resulting any finite cause for Chrome related.
But as a test, you may uninstall SpyBot, as it sometimes has some issues with windows 7 system.
Uninstall these programs too, on a test basis, as they are also know network blockers.
Use Microsoft Security Essentials as your antivirus with windows inbuilt firewall, and free MBAM as the on demand scanner.Code:Start Menu\Programs\Ad-Aware Antivirus Start Menu\Programs\COMODO Start Menu\Programs\COMODO\COMODO System-Cleaner
Download, install and update those, and then run full system scans with both of them, one by one.
Update the drivers:
- Realtek RTL8188CE Wireless LAN 802.11n PCI-E NIC: From Realtek
- Atheros AR8152/8158 PCI-E Fast Ethernet Controller: From ATHEROS drivers for Microsoft Windows (Atheros?????)
Free up the startup.
- Click on the Start button
- Type “msconfig (without quotes), click the resulting link. It will open the System Configuration window.
- Select the “Startup” tab.
- Deselect all items other than the antivirus.
- Apply > OK
- Accept then restart.
