I ran memtest86, and to my astonishment it detected over 43,000 errors within the first pass (YIKES!). So Im pretty sure this means that its a memory issue. That number of errors seems a bit excessive, is iT? Also with testing the stick and slots, Ill have to open the casing...wont that void a warranty? If I have to, I will, though. Does that many errors point to another issue as the cause?

You may take it to your system manufacturer in that case.

Yes they are, BUT you may void the warranty if you fool with it. I would just get a RMA and return it. On memtest, even 1 error is bad.

    last rites...

Will keep you informed. Being that this problem is basically solved, would me going out to purchase additional memory capacity, say, 2 Gb or more, help? Could that possibly reduce or even eliminate the BlueScreening based on the results of the SF Diagnostics Tool?, or no...

Maybe, but if the motherboard is bad new RAM won't help.
