Oh - and many thanks for your time :)
Oh - and many thanks for your time :)
I'm on my phone. I don't know what's happened, trying to reboot it couldn't and launched startup repair - twice. That has failed, I don't know what to do. Trying very hard not to panic. Failing
I was so hoping it was a bad dream.
OK, it's pretty immediate. Tries to boot, a blue screen flashes (too quick to read the text), and then the b/w error screen loads: failed to start, want to run start up repair? I run it, but it fails. Eventually I am taken to HP Recovery Manager.
This offers me System Restore, also Ststem Recovery to factory condition?! I did run a backup c.2 weeks ago, onto an external hard drive, but I am crazy nervous to assume I can actually restore from that - I have never checked.
I hadn't even got to the tools you suggest above, this happened directly after Microsoft Aecurity Essentials ran, found Alureon, instructed me to run Windiws Defender Offline, which found and said it successfully removed, Alureon. I was so hopeful all was good. But this happened, on reboot.
I'm in the middle of a job application, and up aginst a deadline. How scared shoud I be, please please reassure me this is fixable?!
Sarah
Yes it is fixable . But we would need another PC so you could get the tools that you will require to get the PC fixed.
I'm dog sitting for a friend this w/e. There is a Mac here I can use to get online?
And, thank you.
You will need a flash drive. I am not sure if the Mac will be able to open the files that you need . They're made for Windows .
I just don't have access to a PC, or know anyone near here.
Is choosing a system restore option via the current HP recovery my only option here? Shit, I'm terrified that this is all ruined
Wait! Yes I do - my own old laptop. I can go and get that. On way now!
