Occasional random BSOD from various programs, frequent app crashes

    Hi all,

I built my own machine about two years ago, and everything ran smoothly until recently. I added 8GB of extra ram back in May -- the only hardware update I've made.

Starting in August, I started to get frequent crashes (maybe 10-20 times/day) of my most used applications: Firefox, MS Outlook, and Netbeans. I also get the occasional BSOD, a few times each month.

There were a large number of Windows updates and Office updates that were installed in the middle of August, but I can't say for sure that my problems started with any one of them.

I tried updating the BIOS today to the latest one available, but the most recent BSOD occurred after that.

    Can you please help??

edit: the majority of BSODs are caused by ntoskrnl.exe, but not all.

    Welcome aboard.

Your crash dumps are not showing any finite probable cause. In such a situation, it is better to enable Driver Verifier to monitor the drivers.

Driver Verifier - Enable and Disable

Run Driver Verifier for 24 hours or the occurrence of the next crash, whichever is earlier.

Let us know the results, with the subsequent crash dumps, if any.

Thanks, Arc. I enabled driver verifier on Friday and left my machine on over the weekend. I'm continuing to have frequent app crashes, but unfortunately (?) no BSOD.

    Anything else I can try?

Dump Files - Configure Windows to Create on BSOD

We need the dumps with verifier enabled.

Well, there are no new dumps, since I haven't gotten another BSOD. So, I guess I'll just leave verifier enabled and come back to this thread after my next BSOD...

    Thanks again.

Okay, I finally got another BSOD. I've attached the memory dump as a .rar file. (Sorry for the multiple files -- I didn't know any other way to get around the upload size limits.)

I crashed a second time shortly after this one, so I'll upload that memory dump to another post.

Can you upload the minidumps though? Or I am calling somebody else to have a look.

    You update the display driver.
    Code:
    lmvm nvlddmkm
    start end module name
    fffff880`0f0b3000 fffff880`0fdd1000 nvlddmkm (deferred)

Get it from Drivers - Download NVIDIA Drivers.

Also, it is Realtek RTL8168D/8111D Family PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet NIC.
    Code:

    And, it is very old.
    Code:
    lmvm rt64win7
    start end module name

    Update it from Realtek

    Let us know the results.
