    Hello goguvarra.

A stop 0x124 is basically a hardware related error .... it occurs when something in the hardware-driver environment blocks the hardware performance or the hardware are failing themselves.

    You are highly overclocked.
    Code:
    CPUID: "Intel(R) Core(TM) i7 CPU 920 @ 2.67GHz"
    MaxSpeed: 2670
    CurrentSpeed: 3200
As you are getting BSODs, you should stop overclocking and run all the hardware components like CPU, GPU and RAM to their default settings. Also set the BIOS to default, too.
How To Clear CMOS (Reset BIOS)

Stress test the Graphics Card using Furmark.
Video Card - Stress Test with Furmark
Notice if any artifacts are visible. Observe the temperature. If the temperature during furmark test is approaching high over 90 degrees, stop the test manually.

    Stress test the CPU.
Hardware - Stress Test With Prime95

Test your RAM modules for possible errors.
How to Test and Diagnose RAM Issues with Memtest86+
Run memtest for at least 8 passes, preferably overnight.

Is the computer hot? Report us the heat of the computer after a couple of hours of your normal usage. Upload a screenshot of the summery tab of Speccy.

How old the build is? Can you dismantle the PC and clean the inside, specially the air vents and fan grills so that it can blow the hot air out easily? When re-seating, dont forget to apply thermal paste to the CPU.

    The BIOS is very old.
    Code:
    BiosVersion = 0803
    BiosReleaseDate = 05/27/2010
Update the BIOS to Version 0905, dated 2011.03.17.
       Warning

BTW, if you are uncomfortable with this update, leave it pending, do it as the last resort.

The display driver is not upto date, too.

    Thanks for the lengthy response.
Firstly here is a really fresh dumpfile. I'm attaching this again because i'm sure this is linked to what is causing my problem, could be the same as the first one but i'm not sure.

    1) Yes I know it is overclocked but i've been running with this for years and never had this kind of problem.

Recently i've made a couple of changes to the comp such as a new graphics card, PSU, and maxed out the RAM to 24 GB. The RAM gave me some problems at first at 1600Mhz but lowering it to 1333Mhz seems to to have solved it.
    Now the problems appeared again.
Had some quirks with the graphics card temp reaching 100 and the fan would not powerup for some reason. Used a custom map for the fan through EVGA Precision, wonder if that was the problem. Fortunately I looked in the taskbar where the GPU temp is always monitored and reset the computer before anything bad could happen to the GPU...I hope. Stress testing it in Furmark doesn't give any artifacts just high temps, but for this GPU, GTX480 90 degrees under full load is normal.

Could it be that the GPU sustained some damage running for a couple of mins at this high temp and is now giving me these BSODs when playing games ? Could a GPU have this intermittent behaviour or when it breaks it just breaks and that's it ?

Case has been cleaned recently and temps are ok about 40 degrees C for cpu and 60 for GPU.
    thanks.

It is still a stop 0x124, as expected.

You can tweak the hardware settings. But when it is crashing with a bugcheck code 0x124 or 0x116, at first you have to get back to the default settings, and then you need to check the hardware components for possible failure. Overclocking ran good over years, that does not necessarily mean that overclocking will run safely forever. Stop overclocking and start testing.

for anything, 90 degrees is not a normal temperature. It is a nearly temperature that water evaporates. It cannot be normal at all. It is a fair possibility that the GPU is failing; specially when the fan is not working properly. In that situation what you have to do is to test the situation with the onboard graphics.

Let us know how it is working with onboard graphics and without any overclocking.

Also Check if the Power Supply Unit (PSU) supplying adequate power to the computer or not.

    Hello,

I took out the overclocking of the CPU and it seems everything is fine now.
I would have to disagree with you on the GPU part. the 400 series from Nvidia gets really hot, especially a 480GTX like mine. I also have a substandard airflow in my case and the fan on the card is not of the overclocking variety , else I would surely have lower temperatures by a 5-10 degrees. It reaches 90C when in stress test conditions like in Furmark, it doesn't stay that hot all the time.

I'll keep you posted. Thanks for the help.
