    Reply Golden : My laptop is broken so I disassembled and sold some of the parts besides the hard drive thus I use my one and only desktop computer. All I want to do is recover all the data that is stored in the windows 7 partition of the hard drive. After that I would just reformat the hard drive using the ubuntu which I have to learn. However I will try MBR - Restore Windows 7 Master Boot Record and let you know the result.

    It sounds to me like the disk got damaged when the laptop died???

    Use a Live Ubuntu USB to copy the files you want off to another USB drive, and then install Windows 7 fresh - in the long run that is the least troublesome route.

    Can you take a camera snap of the BSOD and upload it here?

    Reply : Golden Ubuntu is already installed on the hard drive along with windows 7 and I could use it any time I want with out any problems. Also if ubuntu works perfectly then the hard drive isn't broken, am I right or wrong ? The problem is that the drive containing windows 7 along with my personal files doesn't show up on "my files" when I'm running ubuntu.

    Also here is a picture of the bsod & disk and I apologize for the poor quality;

    The screenshot looks like STOP 0x0000007B: INACCESSIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE, and I had a strong feeling it would be this exact BSOD too.

    Code:
    Usual causes: Hard drive, File system, Boot sequence errors, Device driver, Virus infection (in particular check the MBR)
    It seems GRUB has really damaged the Windows 7 boot files, have you tried using Startup Repair - Run 3 Separate Times, and then using Partition Wizard : Use the Bootable CD instead of the Disk Management since Windows 7 is currently not available?

    Do you have access to another computer right now? If so, download Partition wizard Bootable CD (the last one in the link). Burn it in a blank CD or in a USB flash stick.

    Boot into Partition Wizards GUI following this instructions. When you are on the last screen, take a camera snap of the screen and upload the snap here.

    You can use ImgBurn to burn the program to a CD, or use Windows 7 USB/DVD Download Tool[2]=General%20Tips to write the program to a bootable USB stick/drive, although I'm not sure if it will work with a USB stick.

    If you want to make a bootable USB flash, use Universal USB Installer. Download the Partition Wizard ISO first. Then run UUI and follow it ....

    For making a DVD, Use Imgburm as xBlueRobot suggested. You really dont know how to burn a disc?
