Should I uninstall Avast? I've seen some threads that recommend uninstalling it in favor of MSSE.

Update your Chipset Drivers.

I do see this

Code:
 Loaded symbol image file: intelppm.sys
    Image path: \SystemRoot\system32\DRIVERS\intelppm.sys
    Image name: intelppm.sys
    Timestamp: Mon Jul 13 16:19:25 2009 (4A5BC0FD)

Also upgrade your LAN and WiFi Drivers

Regarding your Antivirus question . You may uninstall Avast using the tool below and install MSE instead and do a quick scan then a full scan . Just to be sure you're clean.

Download Avast Uninstall Utility
Start Windows in Safe Mode. How to Safe Mode
Open aswclear.exe by right clicking on the aswclear.exe file and choose Run as administrator.
Select the product to uninstall from the drop down list.
Enter the path where the selected product is installed. Be careful as all files from this path will be deleted by the Uninstall Utility.
Click "Uninstall".
Restart your computer.

What I don't really understand is
1) The MSI Website has a older chipset diver (9.3.0.1025)
2) I have version 9.4.0.101, which, according to the intel driver update website, is the current one
3) I'm still getting this error

Wifi and LAN drivers are also the newest
