BSOD Random Crashes error keyword 0x8000000000000002

    Hi

My pc was new last July and since then I've been getting random BSODs for the last 6 months. It has occured when I'm using Adobe Photoshop, Lightroom but has also crashed when the PC has simply been sitting idle. There is no patterns to the crashes. It often wont happen for a few weeks at a time but then may crash twice in a day.

I have done clean installs of Windows 7 a couple of times hoping that this would solve the BSODs without success.

If anyone can give me a clue as to what is happening I'd be very greatful.

    Thanks - Tim

    Hello TimG.

It is crashed by Symantec Real Time Storage Protection
    Code:

Description here: Driver Reference Table - SRTSP64.SYS

Uninstall Norton and all Symentec products using Norton Removal tool. Use Microsoft Security Essentials as your antivirus with windows inbuilt firewall, and free MBAM as the on demand scanner.
Download, install and update those, and then run full system scans with both of them, one by one.

    Free up the startup.

    1. Click on the Start button
    2. Type “msconfig (without quotes), click the resulting link. It will open the System Configuration window.
    3. Select the “Startup” tab.
    4. Deselect all items other than the antivirus.
    5. Apply > OK
    6. Accept the restart.

    Let us know the results.

I've removed Nortons with the removal tool and freed up the startup except the anti virus and had another crash while the pc was sat at idle. I've run the SF tool and attached the zip file..

    Thanks

The zip you uploaded does not contain any crash dump.

Follow it: Dump Files - Configure Windows to Create on BSOD
Go to Option Two, Point 2. Download the .reg file and merge it in registry by double clicking it.

Search the .dmp files manually in the default path: C:\Windows\Minidump or %SystemRoot%\Minidump. Post it following the Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) Posting Instructions.

Run memtest for at least 8 passes, preferably overnight.

I've downloaded the mem test and will leave it running the rest of the day and overnight. I can use my laptop to post.

    Thanks

Now follow the Part 3 of How to Test and Diagnose RAM Issues with Memtest86+, Part 3: If You Have Errors:
It will help you to determine which stick is corrupted, or if it is a motherboard issue.
