If you haven't been able to install the graphics driver, your graphics card won't show up. Could you get into bios and look to see if bios recognizes your graphics card? Also while there please look at the Hardware Monitor and tell me the readings of the +12v, +5V and the +3.3V. Are you having more problems on a cold boot or after the computer has been running for a while?

Have you followed DSprague's suggestion about driver update?

I guess this is a ACPI related issue.
    Code:
    Device object (fffffa8009ff42e0) is for:
InfoMask field not found for _OBJECT_HEADER at fffffa8009ff42b0
     \Driver\nvlddmkm DriverObject fffffa8009dd95c0
    Current Irp 00000000 RefCount 0 Type 00000023 Flags 00002004
    DevExt fffffa8009ff4430 DevObjExt fffffa8009ff4de8
    ExtensionFlags (0x00000800) DOE_DEFAULT_SD_PRESENT
    Characteristics (0x00000100) FILE_DEVICE_SECURE_OPEN
    AttachedTo (Lower) fffffa8007cef940 \Driver\ACPI
    Device queue is not busy.
Set the BIOS to default. Follow the third method, rplacing the battery.
How To Clear CMOS (Reset BIOS)
Hope it will let you boot, with all the hardware recognized.

Then, Disable hibernate. Also set the computer to never sleep.
    Hibernate - Enable or Disable

Also, follow Power Plan Settings - Change
At step 5, Expand PCI Express > Link State Power Management > Settings > Set it to "off" > Apply> OK.

    Edit: Follow essenbe first.

cOnvict, what is the make and model of this computer? It doesn't seem to be the one listed in your specs, since you state that, in addition to Intel(R) HD Graphics 3000, it also has a GT555M card, which is for laptops/netbooks. In many cases, the card only comes into play when high demand is placed on the graphics sub-system, in which case the switch between the 2 is generally seamless (in some cases, this can be enabled or disabled, so check your manual).

Have you tried removing the memory and only running the computer on 1 stick of RAM (you will need to try all sticks individually in each slot) ? Sometimes, corrupt memory can give rise to errors (remember that drivers and everything that the computer is currently executing must reside in the RAM).

Dwarf, in my best guess, his is not a Desktop as stated in the specs, it seems to be MSI Global ? Notebook & Tablet - GE620DX. Though my estimation may be wrong.

The motherboard is MSI MS16G5 intel integration laptop motherboard

    Hi together,

Thanks a lot for helping me get through this!

I've just noticed after Dwarf's comment that the make and model of the computer are as per my specs except that I had put "PC" instead of "Laptop". Sorry about that, I've changed it now.

@Dsprague: I've ran the Malwarebytes and it found 3 issues which it removed. I then ran the sfc /scannow command and it didn't find any issues!
@Essenbe/Dwarf: I installed the driver: 320.18-notebook-win8-win7-64bit-international-whql.exe as per DSprague's suggestion. This seemed to stop all the BSODs i was getting upon shutdown, but today I've had that BSOD when browsing the web (this used to sometimes happen before the new driver as well). Also this issue with the graphics card not being found is new. I went into my bios but there was nothing there about the graphics card. Unfortunately, it seems like I don't have the "hardware monitor" in my bios. I've had the issue with booting only occurring on the 2nd or 3rd attempt a couple of times
@Arc: I've disabled the Expand PCI Express settings and set the power settings to never hibernate/sleep. I haven't replaced the battery because I've never opened my laptop before, should I still do that?

Once again thanks for helping out and sorry about the mis-spec!

Hello convict. If you can run the computer now woth all hardware recognised, you need not to replace the battery.

Let us know how it is running after making all the changes.

Depending on the situation, we will try to bring the sleep settings back, as the existing situation will go heavy on the battery.

    Hey!

Thanks for following up on this. It seems like sometimes my graphics card is recognised and other times not. I'm deducing this from the Nvidia control panel. Sometimes it tells me that no graphics card was detected and other times it shows me the Geforce 555M.

Also after installing the new graphics card driver, every time i shut down, it would install the same two windows update. I've followed the following solution and that seems to have been fixed:

Same Updates everyday - KB2656351 and KB2600217 - Microsoft Community

The good thing is that on startup, my laptop seems to be booting fine now and i've had now BSODs since the latest one posted on this forum :)

Any idea why the gpu is only sometimes detected? Thanks again for your continuous support!

Are you under warranty? If so, contract the vendor. May be the GPU is getting a loose connection.

Another suggestion would be when the Nvidia control panel says thre is no graphics card, go to device manager and expand display adaptor and see if it is listed there. But, with the problems you are having, I second Arc's suggestion.
