The Smart Login program is part of the Asus Facial Recognition bloatware, have you had a chance to install any of the listed Windows Updates so far?

Personally, I would suggest testing the hard-drive before anything else, and Greg's link may be use to you - Troubleshooting Windows 7 Failure to Boot
Run some hard-drive diagnostics and follow these steps:

I have once again read through this entire thread.
Anybody that has been on this Forum very long knows I'm no expert but does like things to make sense. (2+2=4)
1. Installed Sketchup and noticed problem.
Installed Office program
2. Requested to remove Norton and install MSE.
Requested to remove Bloatware and clean up Startup programs.
4. I.D. 6008 thermal problem
Requested to post temps while running Sketchup
Requested to install Windows Updates
5. OP said no overheating in safe mode.
6. Instructions how to remove Sketchup
7. Had problem with Power Plan in Windows
8. Requested temps again.
11. Sketchup still not removed
12. Requested for list of things done so far
13. Still in Safe Mode
Still no Windows Updates

41. Tom requested to run a Fixit tool in aggressive mode
42. Unplugged external screen and let Windows update. Had to plug external screen back in to view results of update. Showed 11 updates installed and 7 more to go.
Their are still more post but it doesn't matter.
Many very qualified members through out the thread have recommended many great ideas but I will still have to go along with the Clean Install recommended by so many other members. Using post # 47 by Greg.
With the mess this computer is in I see no other way to come with (2+2=4) on this computer.
