The Smart Login program is part of the Asus Facial Recognition bloatware, have you had a chance to install any of the listed Windows Updates so far?

Still had 7 updates ready to install …2 important and 5 optional….Opened to see what they were vs just accepting.
    Important updates were:
    Windows 7
Internet Explorer 10 for Windows 7 for x64 based Systems (box was unchecked)
Office 2007 Office File Validation Add-in (box was pre-checked??)
    Optional Updates were:
Platform update for Windows 7 x64 Edition (KB2670838)
Update for Windows 7 x64 based Systems (KB 2574819)
Update for Windows 7 x64 based Systems (KB 2592687)
Update for Windows 7 x64 based Systems (KB2709981)

Bing Desktop v1.2 (all boxes were unchecked since I think have optional updates set let me choose).
I know yesterday was Patch Tuesday so don't know if that was what updated??
Please help! Hopeing to hear back from one of you before I dare reboot....thinking about pulling battery, uplugging and holding power button for 30 seconds again before trying....Any point?
Don't install the Bing Desktop, leave that unchecked. I would suggest installing all the Optional updates, and the two Important Windows Updates.

Personally, I would suggest testing the hard-drive before anything else, and Greg's link may be use to you - Troubleshooting Windows 7 Failure to Boot

Run some hard-drive diagnostics and follow these steps:

Find your hard-drive manufacturer and run their tests.

    Additional Tests:

Post a screenshot of Crystal Disk Info summary:

If you have an SSD, make sure the following are up to date:
    • SSD firmware
    • BIOS Version
    • Chipset Drivers
    • Hard disk controller drivers/SATA drivers
    • If you have a Marvell IDE ATA/ATAPI device, make sure the drivers are up to date from the Intel site or Marvell site and not from your motherboard/vendor support site.
Check for any file system errors and bad sectors using Option #2 of:

Use this command with Disk Check:

    Code:
    chkdsk C: /f /r
