Found the cause of my BSOD's when install Win7
I was installing Win7 64bit last night on a PC that I was rebuilding. Known good i3-3220 CPU , ASUS P8Z77-V LK motherboard, Corsair power supply, but new RAM and Kingston 120GB SSD. I had numerous issues when trying to do a fresh install of Win7 with an OEM disk that I just bought at MicroCenter.
Numerous BSOD (usually in ntfs.sys, but also wimflt.sys)., inability to download updates, very slow install, the "start" button refused to work and the sfc /scannow would only get to 25% completed before it would fail.
Turns out, it was bad RAM. The 8GB of DDR3 (Crucial 12800, Ballistix Sport) was the culprit. I replaced the RAM and all of the problems were gone. I reinstalled the OS, then updated it, installed applications and stress tested it over night and all's well.
I just wanted to pass this along in case anyone else is experiencing similar issues...
