    Windows 7 RC 7100 64bit BSOD stop 0124 hal.dll

For the most part, Windows 7 runs great, but occasionally I get the same blue screen with the stop 0124 error. I only seem to get this error when I'm online looking at streaming video (Stickam - The Live Community, Live Streaming Video) for over two hours, or recently while running Apple Itunes software at their home page. I've also had this error while playing a few shockwave games like Burnin' Rubber 3 - Round the Globe Race Game from Shockwave.com, but I don't get this blue screen very often. I also watch twit live with Leo Laporte and friends, he's the guy who used to have the screensavers show on Tech TV. I was just watching the [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kbRhWGBeA8M"]YouTube - Presentation on Bill Gates on David Letterman results in blue screen of death[/ame] I've got six windows open in IE8 right now and no blue screen. I just never know when my computer is going to blue screen. Oh well...

I get this error whether the computer is running at normal speed or slightly overclocked. I have a Biostar TF720 A2+ motherboard with an AMD Athlon X2 dual core chip. I only get 1, 2 or 3 crashes, sometimes not even that many. Here's the text file from bluescreen view...

I also uploaded some screen captures from CPU-Z ID program.

0x124 = a hardware error report being passed along by Windows. In other words, it's not a "software" blue screen.

As a suggestion, make sure your BIOS and drivers are up to date. Also, make sure nothing is being over-clocked or under-cooled.

After that, it's time to start ripping out non-essential hardware in the hope that the stop 0x124s will go away.

BIOS and drivers are all up to date, I think I'll just rip out the mother board and CPU and get an Intel main board and Intel dual core processor, thanks for the fast reply...

I adjusted my memory timings and raised the memory voltage a little, seems to be running stable now. I guess I'll keep the mobo and CPU for a while longer.

Just a shot in the dark, but this free test may reveal an incompatibility: Download details: Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor Beta

Since I tweaked my memory settings in the BIOS, I haven't had any blue screens, yet. Here's what Windows 7 Advisor said...

My computer seems to be working fine now.
I'll install the regular paid version of Windows 7 Home Premium when I get it October 22. Thanks for your help.

    I just bought a
GIGABYTE GA-EP43-UD3L LGA 775 Intel P43 ATX Intel Motherboard

from Newegg.com. I'll also be getting an Intel Core 2 Duo with it.

I tried running my AMD Biostar mainboard in normal mode, nothing overclocked, and still got the same stop 0x124 errors. I installed my paid version of Windows 7 Home Premium and it blue screened even more with the same stop 0x124 errors.

However, my Biostar AMD motherboard runs fine with Linux Mint 7 operating system. I bought a new 600 watt power supply because my 500 watt power supply stopped working. There's a heatsink on my Biostar AMD board that gets very hot, it's the heatsink for the Nvidia onboard graphics I think. I bought a new Nvidia Geforce 9500 GT PCI-E video card in hopes that it might cure the stop 0x124 errors. It did not. I ran Memtest on all my memory with no errors.

Hopefully when I get the new Gigabyte Intel motherboard and Intel processor it will be a little better than my Biostar AMD machine.
