GA-P55M-UD2 Periodic lockups and mysterious beep

I built the following yesterday and have since been getting random lockups and a mysterious undocumented beep from the mainboard during operation.

- Gigabyte P55M-UD2
- Intel i5 750 w/Stock Cooler
- 2x2gb Corsair XMS3 DDR3 1366 9-9-9-24
- MSI GeForce GTX 260 216 896mb OCv2
- 500gb Seagate Barracuda SATA
- 250gb Seagate Barracuda SATA
- Some type of Samsung DVD burner SATA

I've been running Professional 64-bit. Updated drivers, gave it a successful 6-hour burn-in with Prime95, and there are still periodic lockups. The lockups occur about 2 or 3 times a day while the mainboard beeps every half hour or so. There are no loose screws in the case, wiring seems to be fine (no "crossed streams"), and components are fit snug.

To date I've done the following:
- Repair install, which crashed and rendered the system unbootable
- Clean install that is running now, mainboard still beeping, haven't had enough time to see any lockups but I think the board is trying to alert me of something. Not using any additional drivers yet.

Got a crash followed by restart. CPU fan is definitely spinning. Installed the INF updates from Gigabyte's web site.

I checked BIOS config and found that the CPU temperature warning was on and set to 80C, but readings show 35. Going to give it a loaded burn-in and report back.

I would google award BIOS beep codes and see if you can diagnose it. I'm sure it's a hardware configuration problem if it's coming from the speaker on the motherboard. I have a similar board P55-UD4P

I would like to note that these beeps do not occur during post but throughout normal operation. After loading the system with Prime95 for 20 minutes and restarting, I got a reading of 41, which was probably a few degrees higher before the restart. Heat seems to be ruled out.

Are the beeps coming from the speaker hooked to your motherboard? I assumed they were but is there some other source they could be coming from?

I would first check the alarm settings in the BIOS. One is probably set too low. Just bump up the temp that triggers the alarm and they should quit. That's my guess

I would suggest checking the Action Center, and the Event Viewer (for errors) that might be related to the beeps. Note the time of the beep on the system clock, then search Event Viewer for errors/warnings during that time.

Knowing what the beep signifies might help out also - you can check this by sampling the sounds in Control Panel...Sound...Sounds tab.

Also, if you leave Task Manager open to the Processes tab (with "Show processes from all users" selected) - when the system freezes you might be able to identify a process that is exhibiting poor behavior/performance.

Beeps have subsided. I'm still leery of the system's stability, though I have my fingers crossed for the INF update.

As a matter of fact, there was a chain of Upnp events regarding various mainboard components around the time of crash.

Another crash this time while copying files from one disk to another, different events. And the mainboard beep a few minutes after rebooting. Attempted the file copy again and no issues.
