BSOD during CHKDSK at startup

Only had this happen fairly recently when CHKDSK runs. Don't remember having to run CHKDSK before and haven't had a BSOD in years for this computer. Previous BSOD from years ago was because of bug in updated graphics driver. Downgraded and no problems with future updates of any drivers. Also no BSOD until CHKDSK ran.

Only ever ran CHKDSK because I recently got Glary Utilities and ran what they had. It asked me to schedule a check on the next startup and I got a BSOD. I'm guessing that's not a good sign for the disk.

There really hasn't been any problems with this computer other than what I've mentioned above and I'd hate for there to be something wrong with the disk. Again, I haven't noticed any problems but it seems like GU found an error and the BSOD seems to confirm that something is up.

I had the computer built. I forgot from who and it doesn't say on the case but everything looked good to me, which I suppose isn't saying much. It came with Windows already on it and none of that pesky bundled stuff. I think I got this computer two summers ago. Don't know that I've ever upgraded it or if it came with SP1. I get those Windows updates from time to time and update everything except language stuff. I have no idea if SP1 was an update once. But I've never had problems with anything OS related so its been working for me.

The key belongs to HP OEM for Windows 7 Ultimate . Which means your OS is counterfeit . You would have to purchase a legit copy and reinstall Windows .

CHKDSK freezes at startup
I have CHKDSK running at startup and when the "press any key to skip in..." prompt appears the system freezes completely when the counter reaches 1. If I press any key the system freezes instantly. CHKDSK ran at startup?
Alright, this hasn't happened since before my old HDD failed. I just got up this morning, turned my comp on, and Windows started to load.. then boom, CHKDSK. I always shutdown windows with the "Shutdown" button, and never hold the power button to shut it off.. could this be a sign of a failing HDD?

chkdsk on startup
Is it common for chkdsk to run approx every 8 startups for no apparent reason?
