    Reoccurring BSOD's (0xD1 & 0x7E)

    Hey guys,

So I have been having these reoccurring stop errors. It first started with the 0x7E error. I restored my system to an earlier time, the re installed a new driver. The message then changed to 0xD1. This one displayed the messaged DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL. I took my computer into the HP store and they restored my computer back to the factory settings. The problem seemed to be solved (Did not get a stop error for atleast a day) but then I got the 0x7E stop error again.

    This is my computer specs:

HP ENVY 4-1001tx Notebook PC Product Specifications | HP® Support

I dont have a more recent screen shot of the 0x7E stop error (aka after I did the full system restore).
I hope I have supplied enough information! Can someone please help me diagnose the issue, thanks in advance!

    Dan

Other information which I forgot to mention:

My laptop was bought in January of 2013, no hardware has been changed since it was purchased. Its mainly used for listening to music and watching films, I do my fair bit of torrenting too. But I have never had problems with viruses or stuff like that. The crashes started about two weeks ago, but prior to that it went through a couple of thermal shutdowns (Currently I am living in Brazil and its HOOOOOOT). The men at the HP store dont think there is any issue with the cooling system. The crashes are random, sometimes they will happen in as little as ten minutes from startup and sometimes my computer will go with out any issues for a few hours. I haven noticed its more susceptible to crashing when I am watching films, using the internet and itunes.

Hope this will mean something to someone.
    Cheers.

Get rid of intel rapid storage. First uninstall it from Control Panel > Programs and Features. Then Uninstall the driver from device manager.

    1. Right click on "my computer" icon and click "manage" on the context menu.
    2. It will open the "computer management" window.
    3. Select "Device Manager" in the left pane, It will list all the existing devices up.
    4. Expand "IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers" by clicking on the triangle in front of it.
    5. Select one Intel device item under it, right click, uninstall.
    6. Continue the process for all Intel items under "IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers"
    7. Now restart the computer. At restart, windows will auto configure the appropriate native system driver.

    Remove:

    Code:
    Start Menu\Programs\Norton Internet Security
Norton is known to cause BSODs, especially Internet Security, it tends to conflict with the network ports and drivers. The best method is to remove Norton completely with the Norton Removal Tool, and then install and run full scans with these free and proven alternatives which work best with Windows 7, due to their compatibility and lightweight nature on system resources.

Install and perform full scans with:

Remember to install the free version of Malwarebytes not the free trail; untick the free trial box during installation. MSE is the most lightweight and compatible with the Windows 7 operating system

Hey! Thanks! I did everything you said except this:

Right click on "my computer" icon and click "manage" on the context menu.
It will open the "computer management" window.
Select "Device Manager" in the left pane, It will list all the existing devices up.
Expand "IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers" by clicking on the triangle in front of it.
Select one Intel device item under it, right click, uninstall.
Continue the process for all Intel items under "IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers"

My computer didnt have that option of IDE ATA/ATAPI.

Ok, so it just crashed again. Displayed the same message. I have just realised that whenever it crashes it reinstalls the Intel Rapid Start Technology program, even though I have unistalled it. Why is this happening, and how can I stop it reinstalling itself?

It should reinstall the Windows ACHI driver instead automatically upon reboot, do you mean that driver? Or, did you just remove the program and not the driver?

Have you tried going to Device Manager, and then selecting View > Show Hidden Devices?

No, it reinstalled the old one. But I did it again and now its gone. But regardless, its still crashing and displaying the same message. Whats the next step? Last time I installed new drivers it just changed the message to 0xD1 saying "DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL", so that doesnt work. Would changing operating systems fix this issue (I wouldnt mind changing to Ubuntu)? Or is it a hardware issue?

    Thanks again.
