BSOD during Shutdown, return from sleep on my Laptop

    Hi,

I have been having these frequent BSODs during return from sleep and shutdown on my laptop.
It happens when I have closed the lead and open it after say 30 minutes the screen will greet me with a BSOD (surprisingly if I open within few minutes it doesn't)

Today I clicked shutdown on my start menu, and left only to come back and notice a BSOD on my screen.

    I have HCL 1044 Laptop
    2gb ram, i3-2350M processor
    7 U x86
    Intel HD 4000 gpu

    BSOD report attached.

(One offtopic question, if any of you have the time to answer, can my laptop support Windows 7 64bit?)

    Thanks.

The BSOD is caused by Conexant USB to Ethernet (LAN) Viking Modem, which is extremely old.
    Code:
    8266a000 82671680 glauiad T (no symbols)
        Loaded symbol image file: glauiad.sys

I would suggest you to stop using that modem. It is most possible that the proper updates to th driver wont be found after 7 years.

Let us know if it is BSODing without that modem or not.

    Modem driver update

Actually there has been an update for the modem driver on the Windows Update under optional priority. I never really ran it. I guess it is time to do so. Let's see what happens.

I can't stop using it though, because without it I will be disconnected from the internet.

Thanks for your help, I will notify if the BSOD persists.
