Hi

I uninstalled one of the windows updates and reinstalled it and it seems to be working fine.

I also removed the heat sink on my cpu and replaced the thermal paste, which was very thick and my cpu is running around 60 degrees as opposed to 98 degrees.

Would that have contributed to the BSOD I have been receiving?

Your CPU wasn't happy with that I'm positive, yes that may very well have been one of the factors
that led to the crashes.
Keep this thread open for a couple of days in case it will act up again, if not mark it as solved.

For future reference, all you need is a tiny 3-5mm in diameter of thermal paste no more.
