Intermittent Freezing Requires Daily Restart

I recently put together a new build and am having an issue where after my computer has been on for more than a day or so, it starts exhibiting persistence input lag/freezing. Basically every 10-15 seconds it locks up for 3-4 seconds. If I start a 3D game in this state its even worse, as it'll render perfectly for a few seconds than lock up for 5-10 seconds, then run fine again for a few seconds, etc. The problem started when I upgraded my video card.

The only solution I have is to restart the computer daily, as using the computer immediately after a restart does not show any problems. I have all hibernate and sleep options disabled for now.

My initial thought was the video card, as running with the motherboard's on-board video does not produce this issue. I returned the card to the seller and they sent me a brand new one, but the issue is exactly the same.

Could this be in inherent problem with the video card or NVidia driver? Any suggestions?

- Asus Z87-PRO
- 4 x G.Skill F3-1600C9-8GXM = 32 GB RAm
- Windows 7 Pro 64-bit
- EVGA GeForce GTX 780 (03G-P4-2784-KR)
- Corsair Ax860
- Monitor resolution 2560 x 1440
- All drivers, OS, BIOS etc running latest versions

I asked you to run SFDT for the simple reason it holds valuable information which will help
solve the issue by giving a broad view on the software side of things.

None the less.
Yes this may very well be a driver issue, 320.xx family of drivers is know to be buggy!
seeing you have a latest series card only means that you can't roll back to an older version
because there is none which support the GTX780 other then 320.xx .

Now please post the zip file created by the SFDT (link above).

After reading this thread more, apparently it's a known issue with GTX 7XX cards running the latest NVidia drivers. NVidia is "working on a solution" but has none yet.

Your machine did bugcheck twice.
Both dumps point to igdkmd64.sys | Driver Reference Table - igdkmd64.sys
This can be a result of the bad nVidia driver as well as overclocking!
If you are overclocking please revert back to stock speeds for troubleshooting purposes.

You might find an update here | Intel® Driver Update Utility


Also keep an eye on the temperatures as you have overheating events
marked in the Event Viewer.

Since this turned out to be a widespread issue affecting numerous people, my local settings are probably not relevant. This looks like a bad driver issue which NVidia has acknowledged. And no, no overclocking.

I know I've stated that at the beginning, nothing you can do but to use your iGPU and wait for nVidia .
