    BSOD at shutdown.

    I'm getting BSOD's only at shutdown.

    Sometimes I will go for weeks w/o any problems & then get several BSOD's in a row at the evening shutdown. Generally they reference ntoskrnl.exe (per BlueScreen View) but two recent ones ref'd iaStore.sys.
    These started about 6 months ago (I think).
    The only new hardware in that time has been an iPhone which is not connected at shutdown.

    I normally boot 1st thing in the morning and shutdown in late evening.
    There seem to be no operational issues during the day.

    I have run MEMTEST86+ V. 4.20 overnight & everything passes.

    The original CPU was one of the faulty i7 2600 that was used by Dell but it was replaced not long after purchase about 2 1/2 years ago.

    Can you help?

    Hi,

    From your logs:

    Code:

    *******************************************************************************
    *                                                                             *
    *                        Bugcheck Analysis                                    *
    *                                                                             *
    *******************************************************************************
    Use !analyze -v to get detailed debugging information.
    BugCheck 50, {fffff8800d0e5000, 1, fffff880046df5e0, 0}
    Unable to load image \SystemRoot\System32\Drivers\RAMDiskVE.sys, Win32 error 0n2
    *** WARNING: Unable to verify timestamp for RAMDiskVE.sys
    *** ERROR: Module load completed but symbols could not be loaded for RAMDiskVE.sys
    Could not read faulting driver name
    Probably caused by : RAMDiskVE.sys ( RAMDiskVE+15e0 )
    I would suggest either updating the driver, or removing the program Dataram RAMDisk:

    Code:
    Faulting Driver: RAMDiskVE.sys
    Refers to: DataRAM RamDisk VE
    Website: OEM server memory upgrades. Dell, HP, IBM, Sun, Oracle, Windows, SQL Server Memory - Dataram

    Also as you stated iastor.sys is causing issues, try updating to latest version:

    Code:
    Faulting Driver: iaStor.sys
    Refers to: Intel AHCI Controller
    Dated: Tue Sep 14 02:23:32 2010
    Website: https://downloadcenter.intel.com/Sea...ntel+RST%29%22

    Also I suspect Norton is also causing problems, please uninstall:

    https://support.norton.com/sp/en/uk/home/current/solutions/kb20080710133834EN_EndUserProfile_en_us

    As an alternative, please download and install:

    Microsoft Security Essentials.
    Recommended from a strict BSOD perspective, compatibility & stability
    compared to other antiviruses/internet security software.

       Note
    Once downloaded, update and run a full system scan

    cheers

    Thanks for your input.
    I will try removing the ramdisk utility and see what happens.

    As far as removing Norton, I'm not inclined to do that until I have more proof that it is, indeed, the culprit. Not only does it provide malware protection but the password manager & firewall are invaluable.

    The fact that I have gotten the exact same error "PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_ AREA" with the different drivers seems to say to me that there is some other issue at work here.

    I'll see what happens with the ramdrive.

    Hi,

    That fair enough about Norton :) I understand,
    just uninstall the ramdisk, update the iastor driver, then if you still experience crashes
    ....................Uninstall Norton

    cheers

    No BSOD's since.
    I suspect the ramdrive software.
    Thanks for your assistance!
