Well before my 760 I had an AMD 6850 and that had a similar issue where I would crash to desktop and get a message saying that the video driver stopped responding and had to be recovered or something. So I don't know if they're related, but in the meantime I'll try the integrated graphics.

What you're describing is a TDR.

Timeout Detection & Recovery (TDR) = "Display Driver Stopped Responding and was Recovered" is a useful feature that started in Vista and is also in W7 that allows the OS to try and recover from a video timeout so that the system does not crash to a bluescreen. Symptoms included a screen flash with the TDR message appearing one or more times or the screen blinking out to black. If the system cannot recover it will crash (Stop Error 116 typical). The issue is that the video card is not responding as expected.

The bugcheck pertains the graphics side of the equation again, did you switch to the iGPU?

So I took out my graphics card to use integrated graphics for a few days and see if the card was the issue, however during installation of the AMD drivers I got another BSOD. I attached the zip file for it. I tried to install the 13.4 drivers and got the BSOD and found out the iGPU was last supported on the 13.1 drivers so I don't know if that was the cause or not.

I haven't had a TDR since I got rid of my amd 6850 and used the nvidia 760, but they both had the same freezing issue. I tried to install again and then it completed successfully.

    Hi :) ,
The last dump was indeed an ATi driver.

    Code:
*** WARNING: Unable to verify timestamp for AtihdW76.sys
*** ERROR: Module load completed but symbols could not be loaded for AtihdW76.sys
    fffff880`031a09f8 fffff880`03ca9446 AtihdW76+0x4446
    fffff880`031a0a28 fffff880`03caf230 AtihdW76+0xa230
    fffff880`031a0a68 fffff880`03cbd6cf AtihdW76+0x186cf
    fffff880`031a0a98 fffff880`03ca7043 AtihdW76+0x2043
    fffff880`031a0ad8 fffff880`03cb4081 AtihdW76+0xf081
    fffff880`031a0b98 fffff880`03cbcbda AtihdW76+0x17bda

The driver is a for the HD Audio by AMD.
    Code:
    Name High Definition Audio Device
    Manufacturer Advanced Micro Devices
    Status Unknown
    PNP Device ID HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_1002&DEV_791A&SUBSYS_00791A00&REV_1000\5&21FC82F3&0&0001
We see it says status Unknown, what is the current state of things?
What were you unable to install, then it did install successfully?
Using the iGPU, how was (is) the experience so far?
Using nVidia / AMD GPUs, both cause TDRs?

Sorry, I should have read over my post, I was in a hurry.
The iGPU seems to be working just fine and the audio is working too. I have only tried the iGPU in a few games at super low settings and haven't had it freeze up or BSOD on me. I'll try it for another day or 2 and see if it does.

So originally I had an AMD 6850 which would get TDR's. I cleaned it out and then it stopped for a few months and then it came back again, however cleaning it out didn't help. I was getting TDR's in game and just sitting at my desktop too so I figured the card was probably on it's way out. I was also getting random freezes, where the game would just freeze up and I had to end it in the task manager. I then purchased a nvidia 760 to replace it. I don't get TDR messages anymore, it just freezes in dota 2 like how the 6850 did.

Does it freeze only while in DOTA2 or is it a affecting the entire PC?
    ie. General Windows, other games...

It hasn't happened in general windows, so far it's just dota 2 and sometimes chrome. I'm not too sure if the 2 issues are related though. I haven't really had to time to play other games, but I'll fire some up and see what happens. Also no crashes on the iGPU for 3 days now.......

It's hard to tell whether the two are related because it depends on the state the PC was in CPU and RAM usage wise.
If you try other games and it doesn't freeze then the problem could be in DOTA itself but we won't know until you
stress the machine some more by playing (with the applicable settings to the iGPU) and by using Windows in general.

    @ Socksjoe

Can you try running DOTA 2 with -nod3d9ex string in the launch options. You can find the launch options by right clicking DOTA 2 on steam library -> click on properties -> set launch options. Do you still get the BSOD with that string on your dGPU?

I'll test out some other games and see. I'll try that in the launch options too.
I somehow managed to get a BSOD when I left my computer overnight, I think it happened when my computer was going to sleep or something.
