BSOD playing Dota error 0x00000019

I am frequently freezing when playing dota 2. I have to end the process with control panel to get out of it. I also got BSOD's while playing too. I recently reinstalled windows 7 x64 as well. I am not sure what the problem is. I have tried to use blue screen viewer and windows debug tool and I am having trouble making heads or tails out of this.

Thanks for any help

Hi Joe, I would reseat your RAM sticks first, then run MEMTEST+, see the tutorial here:

RAM - Test with Memtest86+

A BAD POOL HEADER BSOD is typically a RAM issue.

Attached is Video Memory Stress Test application to also test your video card out as well.

Okay so I ran memtest for 14 passes with 0 errors so I don't think it's my ram. I'm going to try the video memory test now.

0 errors on VMT as well

Any other suggestions?

Anyone have any other ideas or suggestions? I have tried looking around the Dota 2 forums and have not seen any real solutions for people reporting similar issues.

I'm sorry for the late reply but there's no need in bumping the thread.

Your bugcheck fairly common lately as nVidia is having issue with their 320.xx family of drivers,
being that your card is a 7xx series card unfortunately that is all that is available at the moment.
Code:
Name: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 760
Driver Version: 9.18.13.2049
Bugcheck:

Code:
BAD_POOL_HEADER (19)

Arguments:
Arg1: 0000000000000003, the pool freelist is corrupt.
Arg2: fffffa800b2d91a0, the pool entry being checked.
Arg3: fffffa800b2d9198, the read back flink freelist value (should be the same as 2).
Arg4: fffffa800b2d91a8, the read back blink freelist value (should be the same as 2).
  • A pool header issue is a problem with Windows memory allocation. Device driver issues are probably the most common.

The culprit is right there is the stack, (although calling the RAW stack only confirms
its involvement in the crash).

The Stack:

Code:
00000000`00000003 fffffa80`0b2d91a0 fffffa80`0b2d9198 : nt!KeBugCheckEx
00000000`00000000 00000000`c1d00501 : nt!ExDeferredFreePool+0xcbb
fffffa80`4d52564e fffffa80`08b06c70 : nt!ExFreePoolWithTag+0x411
fffffa80`08b06c70 fffff880`0af5def0 : nvlddmkm+0x1beced
fffff880`0af5def0 fffff880`049c0aae : 0xff020000
fffff880`049c0aae 00000000`00000000 : nvlddmkm+0x1b314a
00000000`00000000 00000000`00000001 : 0xfffffa80`4d52564e
00000000`00000001 00000000`00000001 : 0xfffffa80`08b06c70
00000000`00000001 00000000`ff020000 : 0xfffff880`0af5def0
00000000`ff020000 fffff880`0af5df70 : nvlddmkm+0x1acaae

Here's how we can try and mitigate the problem:

If the PC still bugchecks remove the GPU physically from the machine
and use the on-board graphics.
When and if it will persist in producing bugchecks post the new .zip the SFDT generates
back here and we'll have a look .

Okay, so I did everything you told me to except try it without my graphics card. I haven't received any BSOD's since then, but Dota still freezes up and has to be force closed. Any idea as to what would be causing that?

Thanks for the feedback .

Are monitoring the temperatures in any way?
  • Download Speccy and post a Screenshot of the summary window, one at idle and another while putting load on the PC using Prime95 for the CPU side and Furmark for the GPU.

I checked my temps before and they didn't seem particularly high, but here are the screenshots following your instructions. I had each test run for about 15 minutes until the temps seemed to have leveled off. I didn't see any artifacts or errors on prime.

Thanks .
Those temperatures are tolerable .
We know that the 700 series of GPUs are having issues with drivers currently.
Try to run on the integrated graphics for a while and see how it goes.

Keep the updates coming.
