    BSOD fairly random 0x0000000a IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL

    Hi everyone,

I have a blue screen at fairly random times but mainly whilst playing games. It occurs fairly frequently whilst playing DOTA2 but has occurred when playing other games and sometimes when watching videos.

I have run the diagnostic tool and attached it to this thread.

My computer was bought per-overclocked from overclockers.co.uk and ideally I don't want to mess around with those settings if possible.

I would really appreciate your help as this is happening fairly frequently. Furthermore, I am not overly experienced in technical aspects, hence why I bought a pre-made PC so I will try my best with any information you give me!

    Thank you!

    Ben

The bugchecks you're experiencing point to a buggy display driver:
    Code:
    DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL (d1)

    Arguments:
    Arg1: ffffffffffffffaf, memory referenced
    Arg2: 0000000000000009, IRQL
    Arg3: 0000000000000001, value 0 = read operation, 1 = write operation
Arg4: fffff80000b9c7b7, address which referenced memory
    • An attempt was made to access a pageable (or completely invalid) address at an
interrupt request level (IRQL) that is too high. This is usually
caused by drivers using improper addresses.

    Code:
    !irql
    Debugger saved IRQL for processor 0x0 -- 2 (DISPATCH_LEVEL)

    Code:
    fffff800`00b9c768 fffff880`0540bfd1 nvlddmkm+0x206fd1

You are using driver version 320.49, which is known to be buggy.
    Code:
    Name NVIDIA GeForce GTX 670
    Driver Version 9.18.13.2049
    Arc said:
Lately we have experienced some issues with the latest driver. Install the 314.22 WHQL only.

    • Uninstall All nvidia items in Control Panel > Programs and features
      • 3D Vision Control Driver
      • 3D Vision Driver
      • Graphics Driver
      • HD Audio Driver
      • PhysX
      • nvidia Update

(Are you using nvidia chipset drivers? If so, dont uninstall anything other than those are listed).
    • Now follow Drivers - Clean Left over Files after Uninstalling
    • Boot normally now. Go to Drivers - Download NVIDIA Drivers, Download 314.22 WHQL. While installing, Select Custom (Advanced) install. In the next page, follow this settings:

Cleanup your startup by following this tutorial.

Update your intel drivers, using this online utility.

Let us know the results :).

    Ohh and welcome to SF.

Thank you for such a quick reply!

It was actually an older version than that one as I updated the graphics drivers before running this test. Sorry to be confusing about that! So should I still go back to this version, or try it with the latest drivers first?

I have cleaned up the start up and updating the intel drivers now!

Again thank you for such a quick reply! :)

Yes it is best to limit the known factors as much as possible,
Follow the steps in the post above in order to install 314.22.

If issues arise let us know!
