BSOD after Windows 7 install, plus display driver fault

    Hi,

I just uploaded Windows 7 professional yesterday (clean install, using windows xp previously). Everything went smoothly as far as I could tell and Windows 7 is now running on my laptop.

However every 10 minutes or so the screen freezes, goes black for a second and than returns to normal and a message appears in the bottom right hand corner of the screen saying 'Display driver Intel graphics accelerator for windows vista(R) has stopped responding and successfully recovered'

One time after this happened I got the a blue screen with a warning message (it was too fast to copy anything down) and than my laptop restarted itself. I have added a zip file to this message taken from \windows\minidump as I saw someone suggested to do this on another thread... I hope it helps with the diagnosis.

I'm not sure if the BSOD came as a result of the display driver fault as mentioned above. I'm not very savvy when it comes to computers.

One more piece of info - after installing windows 7, I installed all the recommended and critical updates for windows, but none of the optional ones. I can provide a screen dump of these if needed.

Hope I've given enough information and would really appreciate any help.

    Thanks

    Hi,

Your logs show Intel Graphics Driver as faulting:

    Code:

You need to update your Intel Driver:

    Code:
    Driver: igdkmd32.sys
    Refers to: Intel Graphics driver
    Dated: Wed May 06 19:13:40 2009
Use the Intel® Driver Update Utility and check for a Win 7 32-bit version:

    https://downloadcenter.intel.com/Default.aspx

Aim to update your drivers as many are dated 2009.

Once updated reboot the system and see if your issue remains?

    Cheers

    Hi Dave,

Thanks for your reply. I've just downloaded the graphics driver recommended by the Intel website you gave. Will wait to see if that has solved the problem. Fingers crossed

    Thanks very much

Hi - I just thought I'd let you know that the problem seems to have disappeared since installing the new driver. Thanks again for your help.
