    Great support Steve!, I've been away for a while .
    ModgePodge, I agree with Steve (Anak) on this one, if you can't see a way of
    obtaining a matching pair you can, for troubleshooting sake, run the laptop with only one for a short while.
    You said they you have 6GB \ 2 modules of different sizes, so it will be 4+2, I'd take out the 2GB module first.
