Run the System File Checker that scans the of all protected Windows 7 system files and replaces incorrect corrupted, changed/modified, or damaged versions with the correct versions if possible:

• Left click and Run as Administrator

Thanks for your reply.

I'm dealing with this issue for 2 months already and have tried harddrive checks (with chkdsk and other software)

I have formatted my laptop multiple times, thus deleting all software (like Norton), it did not many any difference. As I wrote in my previous post, it does not overheat at all, not even close.

It crashed 9 times in the past 12 hours. However, it still never crashed while playing video files with VLC or BS Player. I once played movies on it for a week non stop with 0 crashes, and whenever I started up a game it crashed within 12 hours. It also still hangs frequently when browsing the internet

I am currently watching long youtube videos and it never crashes while I'm watching. I definately have over 100 hours of video without a single crash the past 2 months , but my record on browsing/gaming is about 4 hours.

Sounds weird.
Have you tested the RAM?

Test and Diagnose RAM Issues with Memtest86+:

• RAM - Test with Memtest86+

   Tip

• Pay close attention to Part 3 of the tutorial "If you have errors"
• Test the RAM with Memtest86+ for at least 7-10 passes. It may take up to 22 passes to find problems. Make sure to run it once after the system has been on for a few hours and is warm, and then also run it again when the system has been off for a few hours and is cold.

The goal is to test all the RAM sticks and all the motherboard slots.

Check your motherboard manual to ensure the RAM sticks are in the recommended motherboard slots. Some motherboards have very specific slots required for the number of RAM sticks installed.

If you get errors, stop the test and continue with the next step.

1. Remove all but one stick of RAM from your computer (this will be RAM stick #1), and run Memtest86 again, for 7 passes.

*Be sure to note the RAM stick, use a piece of tape with a number, and note the motherboard slot.

If this stick passes the test then go to step #3.

2. If RAM stick #1 has errors, repeat the test with RAM stick #2 in the same motherboard slot.

*If RAM stick #2 passes, this indicates that RAM stick #1 may be bad. If you want to be absolutely sure, re-test RAM stick #1 in another known good slot.

*If RAM stick #2 has errors, this indicates another possible bad RAM stick, a possible motherboard slot failure or inadequate settings.

3. Test the next stick of RAM (stick #2) in the next motherboard slot.

*If this RAM stick has errors repeat step #2 using a known good stick if possible, or another stick.

*If this RAM stick has no errors and both sticks failed in slot#1, test RAM stick #1 in this slot.

4. If you find a stick that passes the test, test it in all the other motherboard slots.

If Part 2 testing shows errors, and all tests in Part 3 show errors, you will need to test the RAM sticks in another computer and/or test other RAM in your computer to identify the problem.

In this way, you can identify whether it is a bad stick of RAM, a bad motherboard, or incompatibility between the sticks.

During these test, use the above software to keep a check on the temperatures.

Hello joker, what are we working on here? You keep referencing a laptop but your specs say desktop?
Before we go further.....
To better help us to help you would you please add your systems specs? Here's the correct way to do it. :SystemInfo See Your System Specs Under System Manufacturer/Model Number add whether it is a desktop or laptop and whether self built. Very important

Log in to Seven Forums and you will be able to transfer the info directly to the specs page in your profile from within the System Info app.

Hi Jokerr. There's an ongoing problem impacting hardware acceleration in Firefox on Nvidia adapters, so I hear.

There are two avenues you can try taking to alleviate the problem:
1. Try installing Nvidia Forceware 314.22, as they are considered most stable by the community (of Nvidia users).
2. Disable hardware accelaration in Firefox.


However, as you have random problems in games and such too, all indications are that your graphics hardware is on the brink of failure, just not quite there yet (or has been malfunctioning from the start).

Anyway, try installing 314.22 as they will tax the Nvidia adapter the least.
