    Got the Blue Screen-Problem Signature?

Left the computer (Gateway DX4720-03) in sleep mode last night. Started up OK, but while browsing, got a blue screen. The blue screen had a lot of text in it, but disappeared too soon to digest. Do remember text saying something to the effect that I can restart but if I got the blue screen again, I'm in trouble...or something like that. Restarted and then got the following error message from Windows, but don't know how to handle all this. Help please.

    Problem signature:

EDIT: Don't know if this is helpful, but I now note that this forum's tab can't be repositioned within the tab bar nor can I place tabs from this forum into my Groups bookmark. Whereas, all other tabs (like Yahoo, Wundermap, etc) can be moved about the tab bar and/or placed (drag/drop) within my Groups bookmark. These moves with Firefox were no problem until the blue screen appeared.

EDIT 2: I can now move the tab in question, but it doesn't respond as quickly as the other tabs on the tab bar.

In System Properties under the Advanced tab there is a Startup and Recovery section. There is an Automatically restart option under System Failure. Uncheck that and you'll be able to view the next Blue Screen when it happens and write down all the info. Have you installed or updated any drivers lately? Also check Windows update for driver updates? Installed any new hardware or added hardware? If you have System Restore enabled you could try going back a day or two, to before the first BSOD.

A stop 0x9F is called a Driver Power State Failure. It is caused by ACPI only. Some drivers fail to react properly during sleep-wake up power transition.

It is to identify that driver and take actions accordingly. And for that purpose, you have to supply the necessary data.

Post it following the Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) Posting Instructions.

After awakening my computer from an overnight sleep, I went into my browser (Latest Firefox) and did some browsing. Within a few minutes I got the BSD, roughly saying that I should restart the computer and if the BSD appears again, I'm in trouble. Restarted the computer and sent out for help on a couple of forums. Followed suggestion to find a restore point that was available prior to this problem. Restored to a few days earlier date and all seems to be working well. Nonetheless, here is the required info for further diagnostics as to what may have been causing my problem (although I do feel that getting the earlier restore point may have mucked things up a bit).

The zip you uploaded does not contain any crash dump. And it is not possible to debug a stop 0x9F without analyzing a crash dump. We need to find out the driver that is failing the power state.

Follow it: Dump Files - Configure Windows to Create on BSOD
Go to Option Two, Point 2. Download the .reg file and merge it in registry by double clicking it.

Now wait for another BSOD. When it occurred, search the .dmp files manually in the default path: C:\Windows\Minidump or %SystemRoot%\Minidump. See if the crash dump is recorded or not (hopefully it will be recorded).Post it following the Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) Posting Instructions.

Dont run any disc cleanup program before you upload another zip.

I have successfully dl'd .reg file and have 2x clicked successfully. If and when I get a BSOD again, I'll do the search and report.
