BSOD - GenuineIntel

Hi,

I've got an overclocked 3570k that I paid for someone to overclock and I get regular crashes when it is overclocked and it seems to be stable running with stock settings. I've tried running AIDA64 Extreme Edition stability test and it was fine after 21 hours. I had previously run Prime95 and the system completely froze after 6 hours. I'm at a loss to understand what is crashing and hoping someone can point me in the right direction. The company I bought the system from is also trying to help.

I've attached the results from the Diagnostic Tool. There are a few dumps in there as it crashed when I installed my Hauppage WinTVR-900H so I upgraded the driver (which I think is the one it identified as Etron) and there may be another before I updated the Intel Display driver.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Overclocking failure causes stop 0x124 BSODs every off and on, and in that case the suggestion goes to run the hardware at their stock performance. So this view is supported in your post.

You know how to get rid of the BSODs. Let us to be confirmed .... does it not BSOD at stock settings at all?

Assuming an affirmative answer, based on the original post. So what it appears that you want to have a stable overclock?

You are correct, it seems to be stable running with the stock profile. Any BSODs I've had previously with stock profile I've been able to explain to a driver problem and have found a more stable driver. Do I need to run it overclocked? No? Why do I want to run it overclocked, purely because that is what I paid for. :) Why did I pay for the overclocking (and better cooling, etc)? Why not? :)

It would be nice to have a stable overclock, but not essential, also, I have no idea how to go about playing with any settings because it was all done for me. I'm still in touch with the company I bought it from and it looks like they are currently trying to rule out everything, they have just asked me to run memtest which I've already done, but will do again.

I have nothing to say against overclocking, but the domain knowledge says ....
1. Overclocking may make the computer unstable.
2. Overclocking reduces hardware's life span.

If it is to overclock, dont pay for it. Do it yourself. And for that purpose, you need to know the hardware in depth. Overclock it only then when you can control it at yourself; so that you can deal with the issues arisen as the side effect yourself.
