Windows 7: Windows 7 freezes randomly, ends up in stop Error-BSOD/force-resets

Hello again. It still happens seldomly (happened twice this week) but I can live with it for now. Does this mean my best course of action is to replace that HDD and sata cable cause either might have been permanently damaged during the series of crashes?

Best regards

You need to replace the SATA cable.

one of the "fork's" teeth on the hdd though! Still replace just the sata? I mean, clearly the cable now takes in "all" the teeth and it is a pretty solid fit, but as I said, the stuff keeps happening on occasion (it is MUCH better than before though, a freeze every 3-5 days or so is okay for me compared to that stuff from before ) - but i have that bad feeling that it might start to happen more frequently again.

I thought the pin is of the SATA cable.

Bend pins will cause trouble in connectivity, so some problems will be expected there. But if you dont want to change the entire HDD for it, dont do it right now. If it goes any worse, you know what is the first place to look at, and we also will be here to assist you.

So no need to be worried

Sigh, it's happening again, and it keeps on happening. So far I only tried playing games today but I got the freezes (no BSODS yet) quite regularly - havn't tried doing non-game stuff yet though.

What's my next step (more sighs)? I just can't wrap my mind around the fact that it was seemingly fixed only to be the same shit again like a week later. Man this is so frustrating.

Thanks in advance for tending to my needs, it's much appreciated.

Game freezes are mainly graphics related. Stress test the Graphics Card using Furmark.

oh it definitely happens on desktop too, when I watch a youtube video for example just now. The difference between game freezes and desktop freezes is that desktop ones usually recover "faster" or "at all" and game freezes usually last a while or result in bsod entirely.

Once it has given me a delay/semi-freeze on desktop everything starts going downhill, stuff gets unresponsive or takes a while to load, or doesn't open at all, and I have to reset (and unplug cause I'll get a disk read error) eventually.

Edit: removed gfx card entirely now. I did that a week or so ago and when it was running fine I put it back in. Leaving it out for now - will report if crash/freeze etc.

no freeze so far, seems fine. Why is this also linked to my (now removed, forever I think ) graphics card? Man, computers sure are tricky.

Surely those are tricky. It is good to know that the computer is running fine now.

Had no freezes yesterday and just a very minor one right now that lasted for a few minutes - I was watching a stream in the meantime though and it was running fine, only windows explorer got unresponsive. After a few minutes a message popped up and the explorer restarted itself, resulting in everything working well. I'll keep you updated, again I can't stress how much I appreciate this.

thanks buddy : 3
