Windows 7: ntoskrnl.exe BSOD randomly

I understand what you're saying but, I have a 500w psu that is 80+ bronze right now that I was originally using, it's just that the forum thinks it's failing (and I'm starting to agree with them). I had to use a friends stock psu to test it, which meant I had to unplug some stuff. Currently I have 1 stick of ram, my heatsink and case fan, cpu, mobo, and harddrive. And ever since I opened it up and but it to that type of barebones setup, I haven't had any blue screens or anything. Although I'm still getting that weird distorted sound when Windows starts up and I'm logging in. Now if I do buy another power supply it will be 550w and most like 80+ gold.

The claimed output is at best an ex-factory value and can be expected to be an over-statement given usage. I would personally allow at least 20% for ageing of the PSU. This means that if the 'requirement' at build is 300W, then given 80% efficiency, that brings it to 375W, and the extra 20% brings it to 450W - and that is assuming that all other factors are equal, which they rarely are.
Add in another fiddle-factor for that (say another 20%), then you get to 540W.....

M if you want a good one to get and I know it is probably not the cheapest a Corsair HX 650 or the Corsair GS 600 and it gives you a fair bit of leeway and I can vouch for the Corsairs mate my HX 650 has not missed a beat and it is semi modular.

I any case (no pun) one of 600watts would give you peace of mind and also leave you with plenty of power should you add on even more later. Just because it is a larger wattage unit doesn't mean it uses more power from the wall as they only use what you use / draw on them in the machine.

There are other options in this listing though and the prices over there is way better than what we pay by a good $20 - $30.

The weird noise I haven't got time to read back right now as I have to dash out.

Your dump file is really corrupt, the entire module list is either corrupt or paged out.

Code:

***** Debugger could not find nt in module list, module list might be corrupt, error 0x80070057.
The most useful information was the exception code here:

Code:
0: kd> !error c000001d
Error code: (NTSTATUS) 0xc000001d (3221225501) - {EXCEPTION} Illegal Instruction An attempt was made to execute an illegal instruction.
Another key piece of information, was the transition between Kernel Mode and User Mode. This is where the bugcheck happened.

Run Driver Verifier to scan for any corrupted drivers which may be causing problems, this program works by running various stress tests on drivers, in order to produce a BSOD which will locate the driver; run for least 24 hours:

Well, got a 600w power supply, plugged it in. And it's not the psu, I still got a blue screen. I think it's one of my mobo's ram sockets. Because I swapped the ram stick over to a different one and now I'm not getting any bsods, and before I had the ram stick unplugged from that socket for a week and I had no bsods that entire week.

Edit: Still got bsods, so I just took the ram out entirely, I have 1 in now. And also this is the bsod I got from driver verifier.
