Yes Will it does look that way mate maybe it is because the Ubuntu is notusing the system as much as Windows I don't know to be honest. But pity youdidn't have access to a spare card or maybe try the on board graphics.

Other than that another card. I am using this as main one at the moment havea look at the specs to see if it suits you keeping in mind I am not a gamer soam not real sure how this one would be for your use http://www.asus.com/Graphics_Cards/GTX650_TIDC2T1GD5/#overviewbut it is reasonably priced.

It would still be a considerable improvement over the the 280.

Unfortunately I don't have the option of using on-board video as my motherboard doesn't have on-board vid.

Also my only 'spare' graphics card is my old AGP graphic's card which I don't believe my motherboard will even have a slot for.

Ah ha, you have the boost, I am not sure if I can afford that one, it's slightly out of my price range this side of Christmas.

I have been reading around at the HD 7850 comes a close second to the boost and I can pick one up for £115 whereas the best I have found on the boost is £130.

I know it probably sounds petty when it's only £15 but you gotta look after the pennies eh?

Do you have any experience with the ATI card's?

    Thanks,

    Will

No mate I went over to NVidia a long time ago the AMD stuff didn't do a lot for me.

Actually the non boost TTX 650 isn't any slouch to be honest I have one in the Sandy Bridge and the tester machines I use the boost for my main machine.
