Can't restart, error 7001 prominent in Eventvwr

Don't know why. I get to log on screen and all's well. Then just a lot of black after logging in, the bar on the bottom with the time and... that's it! I had to power off improperly and then start in safe mode w networking to downloaded a tool to collect information after reading up how to submit here. I'm sorry but I really don't understand it at all. Any help will be appreciated.

Try it: Troubleshoot Application Conflicts by Performing a Clean Startup

Click on the start button. Type .... msconfig in the search bar and hit enter. It will open the system configuration window, with the "general" tab selected.
  • Click the "startup" tab. Click "Disable all" > Apply > OK.
  • Click on "services" tab. Check the "Hide all Microsoft Services"; Click "Disable all" > Apply > OK
Then try to boot again normally. Is it failing still?

Let us know.

Hi. That's a good idea. But I restored the computer to a time before from safe mode and it now boots normally. But I will try this first if it happens. Is there any value in doing it now?

Doing a clean startup is always necessary, irrespective of there is any issue or not.

And, if the issue is really over, please mark the thread as solved.

Thanks. I didn't know which section to post it in. Where would have been best to post it? Please let me know and I'll mark it solved and open a new thread in a better place if it recurs.

If that issue recurs, you can start a new thread in either General Discussion or Performance & Maintenance
