    BSOD: Freezing-DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE 00000000`00000003 0x0000009f

So my computer has been freezing from time to time, in order to remedy this, I figured I'd update all my drivers, reinstall my video driver with a custom, clean installation, update Windows, amongst other things. The computer still runs ok but it freezes out of the blue sometimes and apparently it blue screened when I wasn't home. I fear that if I can't fix this situation soon, I may have to purchase a new computer, which I currently don't have the money for. Any information or help would be great. Thank you!

    Welcome to SF petey0707 :) .

The bug check is 0x9F which is DRIVER POWER STATE FAILURE that happens in
transitions between power states most commonly S0 (ON state) > S3 (Sleep state)
or vice-versa. You can read more HERE.
Although some drivers such recently released from nVidia have been known to cause random
system freeze and hangs, which is what you're experiencing.
The most common cause is a device driver but sometimes it's the hardware itself
    that is at fault.

    Code:
    BugCheck 9F, {3, fffffa8009159060, fffff80000b9c518, fffffa800b434c70}

Probably caused by : pci.sys ◄ //Being falsely blamed for the crash.
    Code:
    !irp fffffa800b434c70

No Mdl: No System Buffer: Thread 00000000: Irp stack trace.

Please follow this detailed quote and roll-back to a known stable version of the driver:

    Install the 314.22 WHQL only.

    • Uninstall All nvidia items in Control Panel > Programs and features
      • 3D Vision Control Driver
      • 3D Vision Driver
      • Graphics Driver
      • HD Audio Driver
      • PhysX
      • nvidia Update

(Are you using nvidia chipset drivers? If so, dont uninstall anything other than those are listed).
    • Now follow Drivers - Clean Left over Files after Uninstalling
    • Boot normally now. Download 314.22 WHQL. While installing, Select Custom (Advanced) install. In the next page, follow this settings:

Also follow this tutorial and disable the power management of the PCIe:

What is the make, model and age of your PSU?
Fill out this form and post back the result:

    Test for thermals and stability:

    • Download HWinfo and post a Screenshot of the sensors window, one at idle and another while putting load on the PC using Prime95 for the CPU side and Furmark for the GPU.
      • Before running Prime95 make sure to enable Round-off checking (see 1st post under the tutorial).

Post back with the results :) .

    Thank you! :)

I followed the first quotes steps in full, uninstalling all the drivers in programs and features, restarting when need be, booted in safe mode, ran the DDU, uninstalled the current and previous drivers, booted again but in normal mode, download the 314.22 installing only the PhysX using the clean option in custom, rebooted in normal mode, updated to a more stable driver (331.58), and disabled the power management of the PCIe to Off.

1 - My PSU make, model and age are the following:

    XION
    XON-700P12F
    700W ATX 12V v 2.2 / EPS 12V SLI

It's about 3 years old, close to being 4 by the beginning of 2014.

2 - Here are the results:

    Minimum PSU Wattage: 324 W
    Recommended
PSU Wattage: * Power Supply Wattage ResultsPower Supply Wattage ResultsPower Supply Wattage ResultsPower Supply Wattage Results

I will admit, there were a few things I didn't fill out, as I was a bit clueless, so I can't say this is 100% accurate. Things like what my SSD is kind of had me at a blank since I ordered this pre-built years ago.

3 - The Screenshots are attached to the zip file for the idle mode and FurMark, I'm running Prime95 now as well. Did you want me to wait 2 hours like the links says? I wasn't sure, and don't want to strain my computer too much. I don't think temperature has much to do with the freezing, as I can play games no problem, it only really freezes at random when on Youtube or Facebook, but runs perfectly with video games (at least so far).

I have to say, this took quite awhile, but I learned after some research just how unstable nVidia drivers have become, which is a shame. If worse comes to worse, I may just replace my GPU with something else. Hopefully I can play ACIV and COD: Ghosts without too much lag or issues, because the last two drivers I downloaded caused a ton of problems with frequent freezing and such, as I already explained. I also see that I'm not alone when visiting the nVidia forums, many setups and builds seem to be experiencing similar problems, with BSOD and such. I hope nVidia fixes the issues they've been having lately, this is frustrating.

    My pleasure :).
I hope you it is a typo and you meant to type "updated to a more stable driver (314.22)" ?

How long did you run Furmark for, because 43° is pretty low (which is a good thing)?
