Random BSODs likely related to antivirus
Hi all,
My desktop PC has had surge in the BSODs in the last few months. Earlier, it used to BSOD whenever dust buildup increased. But the BSODs used to disappear after cleaning the PC for a few months till the dust build up reached certain level and they used to reappear and the same cycle repeated.
But since the last few months, BSODs don't disappear even after cleaning. A few weeks back, I ran driver verifier and got to know that a driver related to AVG was causing BSOD. So I removed AVG and installed Avast. But the BSODs came back again. So I uninstalled avast and ran the computer for a few weeks without any antivirus. The BSOD frequency had decreased and it used to appear once or twice a week as opposed to twice or thrice a day when antivirus was installed. But again the computer was really dirty during all those weeks I ran without any AV.
A few days back, I updated all the drivers, cleaned the PC and installed Avira free AV and the BSODs are back in full swing again. One more thing I would like to highlight is that the BSODs sometimes appear if I close multiple(10+) chrome browser tabs, both when closing the browser window and when clicking on 'Close other tabs'.
Please help me in pointing out the real culprit and let me know if any more info is needed. TIA.
